A Meaningful Morning at Pagtaltal sa Balaan Bukid 2026

My family and I joined the many people at Balaan Bukid in Jordan, Guimaras.
This is a special time called "Ang Pagtaltal," where we remember the journey of Jesus.
It was a long walk, but it was a very beautiful and spiritual experience for us.
We arrived at Rizal, Jordan, around 6:00 in the morning.
The air was still cool, and the sky was a soft blue.
Even at that early hour, there were already hundreds of people.
Some were already going back to the foot of the mountain while we were just starting.

The path up the mountain is rocky and steep.
To help us, there were long bamboo railings along the side.
I saw many families walking together.

As we hiked, we stopped at different Stations of the Cross.
At every station, there is a small shrine with a picture.
People stop there to pray quietly with their families.
Some light white candles on the dark rocks.
Adults touch the shrines as a sign of faith, and kids for good luck.

It was touching to see the rocks covered in glowing candles.
Even though there were many people, it felt very peaceful under the big trees.
People walk quietly, and I've only seen a few teenagers chatting.

The higher we climbed, the hotter the sun became.
The cool morning air turned into a bright and sunny day.
We had to wipe our sweat often, but the view made it worth it!
When we finally reached the top, we saw the large white chapel and the three big crosses standing against the clear blue sky.
It feels like you are closer to heaven. π

By the time we went down, I was tired and thirsty, but my heart was so happy.
Pagtaltal sa Guimaras is not just a hike; it is a way to show our faith and spend time with the community.
It was a hot day, but a very blessed one!
