☀️ A Little Morning Walk, A Big Trappist Haul!!! 🛍️🥭🍪

It's amazing what treasures you can find just a few kilometers from your doorstep!!

For my family, the Trappist Sanctuary is that perfect spot,, close enough for a casual morning walk,, but peaceful enough to feel like a real escape..

The best part, of course, is the little detour to the Trappist Gift Shop!! 😁
It’s like a mini-supermarket packed with delicious treats and meaningful souvenirs made by the monks and other artisans of Guimaras..
You go in for a quick look and come out with a bounty!! 😊

Here's a peek at my latest haul after my morning stroll:

😋 A mountain of monastic delights!

my bag felt heavy on the walk home 😁 and I'm not complaining one bit!!
We stocked up on so many classic and local goodies:

Mango Biscocho 🥭

These are crunchy, buttery toast sticks and the mango flavor makes them extra special and perfect for dipping in coffee..

Mango Piaya 🥭

(The thin, round, flat bread with mango filling) It's sweet, soft and chewy with a delicious filling of mango.. A must-buy every time!!

Assorted Crinkles 🍪

I love how soft and powdery these cookies are..
The different flavors,, lemon, orange, mocha,, are a great mix for everyone..
I had to sneak a bite of the powdered yellow one right away!!

Cashew bandi 🌰

(The clumps of caramelized cashews)
Talk about satisfying!!
These crunchy clusters of caramelized cashews are super sweet and addictive..

Bayi-Bayi

(I don't know how you call it but that's how we call it here in Guimaras 😁)

(The soft, brown snack wrapped in banana leaves..)
This is a unique, local treat made from grated coconut and rice..
It's chewy and has a rich, earthy sweetness,, the perfect snack..

💖 Souvenirs for the family!

It wouldn't be a proper visit without picking up a few little things to keep or to share..

For my daughter

I found a beautiful silver toned necklace with a lovely religious medal inside an oval pendant.. It's a simple, elegant piece she can wear every day..

For my niece

She got the adorable wooden house keychain that actually says "Trappist Guimaras" on the side.. It's a fun and colorful memento of our local spot..

For my husband

He got the other keychain,, a sturdy one with a beautiful bronze colored Saint Benedict medal.. It's a nice, simple reminder to carry with him..

It was a fantastic morning that ended with bags full of treats and some sweet little gifts to share the good vibes..
And yes, all the snacks are already being enjoyed!!

If you’re ever near the Trappist Sanctuary, in Guimaras, do yourself a favor and stop by the gift shop..
You'll leave happy and probably a little bit full.. 😁
