Puente romano de Alcantara y frontera de Portugal.

This time I will continue telling part of my journey through the autonomous community of Extremadura (Spain). One afternoon I decided to visit the roman bridge of Alcantara, the bridge of Alcantara is a roman arch bridge built between 103 A.D and 104 A.D over the river Tajo.

Esta vez seguiré contando parte de mi viaje por la comunidad autonoma de Extremadura(España). Una tarde me decidí a visitar el puente romano de alcantara, El puente de Alcántara es un puente romano en arco construido entre los años 103 D.C y 104D.C sobre el río Tajo.

Despite its age, this bridge is a great work of engineering. During several wars in history, some of its arches have been destroyed to prevent the enemy from crossing, and later rebuilt, and it is impressive for its size.

Este puente a pesar de su antigüedad es una gran obra de ingeniería, durante varias guerras en la historia alguno de sus arcos se ha destruido para impedir el paso del enemigo, y reconstruido posteriormente, impresiona su envergadura.

As always my adventures are on one of my current or previous rides, anyone who travels by motorbike will realise that everything is seen in a special way, the ease of stopping anywhere and enjoying the place is a great point.

We continue our way to Portugal, it seems silly but I love being between the two countries, as there is no checkpoint, you can cross the border easily.

Continuamos el camino hacia Portugal, parece una tonteria pero me encanta estar entre los dos paises, como no hay puesto de control, puedes atravesar la frontera fácilmente.

We arrive at the border, the division is in the middle of a bridge, so we stop to take the obligatory photo.

Llegamos a la frontera, la división es en mitad de un puente, así que paramos para tomarnos la foto de rigor.

Once the feat was completed, we entered the Portuguese lands to immortalise the moment

Completada la hazaña nos adentramos en las tierras portuguesas para inmortalizar dicho momento.

On the way back I notice that there is the old customs post, it is an abandoned building, you can enter freely, I notice that the floor is full of sheep droppings, so I guess they use it as a shelter for livestock.

De camino de vuelta me fijo que existe el antiguo puesto de aduanas, es un edificio abandonado, se puede entrar libremente, me fijo que el suelo esta todo lleno de excrementos de ovejas, así que supongo yo que lo usan como refugio para ganado.

After investigating this curious place, I set off again towards the Roman bridge, but I remembered that just as I passed it, there was the large dam of the José María de Oriol reservoir.

Después de investigar curioso lugar, me dirijo otra vez hacia el puente romano, pero recordé que al pasar por ahí, estaba la gran presa del embalse de José María de Oriol.
