Size does (NOT) matter? 2-3 inch cuties !! πŸ˜€

Do you think it is just a 'click-bait' title?

Well YES and NO πŸ˜‚

@nelinoeva has challenged us all to show small birds. That got me thinking. What really was the smallest bird I have photographed so far?

I am not really sure... Sunbirds, minivets, finches or white-eyes. I think they are all small and are a challenge to photograph due to their impatient dashing around. Always a very difficult prospect to get them in focus in the split second that they perch somewhere...

Let us take a look..

White-eyes

My favorite small bird and my entry for #SMap 156

This little beauty is around 2" in size and constantly hops around restlessly. With it's brilliant yellow coloring and white eye ring, it is a very cute bird but I have cursed so many times while trying to track it. Focusing on it as it darts in an out around leaves is a nightmare. The damn bird literally can hide behind a single leaf sometimes !!

Finches

Cute, small and very colorful. I love these birds but again have encountered many difficulties in photographing them ...

I almost stepped on a snake in grass as I chased after these beauties for 2 hours! Finally got these shots in focus and ran away from the area because though I was fairly sure what I saw blazing past my foot was a non-poisonous rat snake I did not want to take any chances !! πŸ˜…

These 2-3" small cute ones are worth chasing after but not at the cost of stepping on a 4-5 foot long snake!!!

Sunbirds

Busiest bodies of them all, these birds just do NOT rest. They are one of the first ones out in the morning and they keep flitting from flower to flower. Sometimes they dart around chasing spiders. Looks like they like them for breakfast!

Can you imagine the YOGA poses I had to adapt to get my lens to align with this upside down beauty as it looked for spiders under leaves?

I almost had a cramp in my neck after I managed to take this pic!

So - as a conculsion, I do not think SIZE MATTERS! Small birds are cute and most impressive ...

Do you agree ?

Good photos of the little ones is a huge challenge for me as well, we do have some posers but most of them can't stand still! Awesome clicks! !BEER

@pardinus Yes. Very true. Some of the birds are posers but most of these small ones require a lot of effort. You could appreciate the effort because you must have spent hours and days trying to click them too. πŸ˜€
Thanks for the compliment.

Thank you so much. It’s difficult to capture small birds but then where is the fun in any activity if it is too easy πŸ˜€
