As luck would have it ...πŸ˜€

It does not mean bad luck if a cat crosses the road - it just means the cat is going somewhere! πŸ˜‚

That quote kind of summarizes my feelings on the subject of luck and bad lick!

In wildlife photography though, sometimes I have had some instances where I can not really attribute the photo I got to my skills and preparation alone. I guess those happened due to the timing and not due to my intentions of timing them. So - I guess it is luck that played a part!

My luckiest one and one of my favorites is this shot of a kingfisher with it's meal in a perfect toss...

My entry for #SMap 155

I was actually composing a shot. I knew a kingfisher was in the area and it liked to sit on a stump of wood in a marshy area. The area had some nice yellow wild flowers. So, I wanted to compose a shot with the yellow flowers in a bokeh background. I was just done focusing on the stump and was going to click a shot to check the overall effect and exposure etc. I usually take couple of quick shots for this but lo and behold - as I pressed the shutter, the kingfisher appeared out of nowhere! I kept the finger on the shutter and my D500 rattled on - taking 10 frames per second. I got this amazing shot of the kingfisher tossing it's meal with it poised perfectly in the middle of it's open beak! That I guess counts as a lucky shot!

On another occasion, I saw a kingfisher from far and clicked it without realizing it had something it it's mouth. When I cropped and processed the picture, it turned out it had a crab in the mouth !!

Due to cropping a lot and enlarging, it is not a great quality photo but it was a lucky break indeed to see this kingfisher with a crab in it's mouth.

I guess I have a lot of lucky shots but a funny one - which was totally unintentional was this following shot of a Kingfisher (Shot of a shit πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚)

The kingfisher was sitting quietly on a rock and just as I focused and clicked, it let fly a rapid fire butt-load of crap !

Lucky shit - oops, sorry, SHOT indeed !πŸ˜€

Hope you all are lucky enough to have some similar luck in your photography. If not, seeing these lucky shots will surely provide some inspiration and bring you some luck I think πŸ˜€
