El elevado de la ciudad de Holguín / The elevation of the city of Holguín [es/en]

Buenas amigos de la comunidad hive, hoy les hablaré sobre una estructura de ingeniería civil que está cerca de mi casa, un paso peatonal elevado. En la ciudad de Holguín solamente existe este paso peatonal con estas características de ser elevado, los holguineros lo conocemos como el ¨Elevado¨.

Good friends of the hive community, today I will tell you about a civil engineering structure that is near my house, an elevated crosswalk. In the city of Holguin there is only this crosswalk with these characteristics of being elevated, the holguineros know it as the ¨Elevado¨.

Esta obra está ubicada en la Avenida de los Libertadores, y casualmente se encuentra edificada encima de una loma. El puente peatonal sirve de paso a los estudiantes de la escuela primaria Tony Alomá, ya que el reparto de la Aduana se encuentra a un costado de la avenida y muchos de los niños que pertenecen a esta escuela usan el puente, para evadir el peligroso tránsito de la mañana. En la otra parte del puente se encuentra ubicado el parque Máximo Gómez, donde muchos niños van a jugar al fútbol en las tardes.

This work is located in the Libertadores Avenue, and coincidentally it is built on top of a hill. The pedestrian bridge serves as a passage for the students of the Tony Alomá elementary school, since the Aduana distribution is located on one side of the avenue and many of the children who belong to this school use the bridge to avoid the dangerous morning traffic. On the other side of the bridge is located the Máximo Gómez Park, where many children go to play soccer in the afternoons.

Su construcción es muy peculiar, este se encuentra apoyado en 4 estructuras verticales de hormigón armado que las une un travesaño más pequeño, donde descansan 2 estructuras horizontales de hormigón, sobre las cuales está el piso del puente. El elevado, tiene una altura de más de 3 metros, y está acorde a las especificaciones del código de tránsito.

Its construction is very peculiar, it is supported by 4 vertical structures of reinforced concrete that are joined by a smaller crossbeam, where 2 horizontal concrete structures rest, on which is the floor of the bridge. The elevated bridge has a height of more than 3 meters, and is in accordance with the specifications of the traffic code.

La vista que se aprecia desde el puente es fabulosa, pues, puedes observar el flujo de autos en dos direcciones, ya que, la avenida es de doble sentido. Cuando observas hacia el este aprecias la carretera que lleva al centro de la ciudad y cuando observas desde el oeste se aprecian los carros que vienen desde los municipios Moa, Sagua y Mayarí. Algo que me causa mucha impresión cuando estoy en la parte central del puente y pasa algún camión a determinada velocidad, puedes sentir que el puente se mueve bajo tus pies. Ver los atardeceres desde este sitio es algo muy impresionante, tal parece que uno mismo está guardando el sol.

The view from the bridge is fabulous, because you can see the flow of cars in two directions, since the avenue is a two-way street. When you look to the east you can see the road leading to the center of the city and when you look from the west you can see the cars coming from the municipalities of Moa, Sagua and Mayari. Something that impresses me a lot when I am in the central part of the bridge and a truck passes by at a certain speed, you can feel the bridge moving under your feet. Seeing the sunsets from this place is something very impressive, it seems that one is keeping the sun.

Realmente esta obra es muy útil para los holguineros que vivimos cerca de ella, y además de su importancia social, tiene un alto valor para los fotógrafos pues desde el puente son capturadas las instantáneas a las vueltas ciclísticas a Cuba, a las carrozas en épocas de carnaval. A mi hijo mayor le encanta vistar el puente; y cada vez que tengo oportunidad vengo con él para juntos apreciar desde su altura parte de nuestra hermosa ciudad holguinera. Really this work is very useful for the people of Holguin who live near it, and besides its social importance, it has a high value for photographers because from the bridge are captured the snapshots to the cycling tours to Cuba, to the floats in times of carnival.
