Un día en la Playa El Peñón, un paraíso en la ensenada, Cumaná [Esp-Eng]
En esta ocasión comparto mi visita a la playa El Peñón, en la zona de Ensenada. También visité un hermoso cerro que limita con la playa por el sur, el cual forma parte del sistema montañoso de la Cordillera de la Costa en la región oriental. La montaña luce un agradable tono verde y deja ver tramos de terreno rocoso y abundante vegetación, principalmente manglares y algunas palmeras, además de una barrera protectora que separa el monte de la playa. Fue mi primera vez en esta parte de la playa y la disfruté mucho gracias a las increíbles vistas de la montaña, al contraste con la orilla y al hermoso paisaje circundante.
La playa El Peñón se extiende a lo largo de un tramo costero de aproximadamente 7 kilómetros; la hermosa montaña se divisa en el extremo más alejado. En el camino hacia esta zona hay casas de playa, embarcaciones y senderos de piedra y arena que conducen a puntos específicos de la playa. Al tratarse de una zona pesquera, estos senderos se utilizan con frecuencia durante las labores de descarga de los botes.
En la siguiente fotografía se aprecia uno de estos senderos, formado por una mezcla compacta de tierra y piedra, el cual facilita el paso hacia la zona interior de la playa. La montaña ofrece una vista impresionante que se complementa a la perfección con las cálidas aguas azules del mar Caribe, a lo largo de la costa de Cumaná y el sector de El Peñón.
Here, I share my visit to El Peñón Beach in the Ensenada area. I also visited a beautiful hill bordering the beach to the south—part of the Coastal Range mountain system in the Eastern region. The mountain boasts a lovely green hue, revealing sections of rocky terrain and abundant vegetation—mostly mangroves and a few palm trees—along with a protective barrier separating the mountain from the beach. It was my first time visiting this part of the beach, and I really enjoyed it thanks to the incredible mountain views, the contrast with the shoreline, and the beautiful surrounding landscape.
El Peñón Beach spans a coastal stretch of approximately 7 kilometers; the beautiful mountain comes into view at the far end. Along the path to this area, there are beach houses, boats, and walkways made of rock and sand that lead to specific points on the beach. As this is a fishing area, these paths are frequently used when unloading the boats.
In the following photograph, we see one of these walkways—formed by a compact mix of earth and rock—which allows for easy passage toward the inner beach area. The mountain offers a stunning view that is perfectly complemented by the warm, blue waters of the Caribbean Sea along the Cumaná coast and the El Peñón sector.
Para explorar la zona y conocer este hermoso lugar, di un paseo por la orilla siguiendo el sendero de la montaña; disfruté de las vistas, el paisaje y la fresca brisa matutina. También observé diversas estructuras —o refugios abiertos— en los alrededores de la playa; hay varias construcciones, la mayoría con techos de hojas de palma, que ofrecen protección contra los rayos del sol.
Había también varias embarcaciones a la orilla del agua y algunos pescadores reparando sus redes. El oleaje era suave, aunque por momentos las olas rompían con mayor fuerza. Durante el recorrido, me detuve a admirar las palmeras que se mecían con el viento y la increíble vista de la colina; una fotografía captura cómo la luz del sol incide sobre la playa y la montaña, creando un paisaje marino hermoso y encantador. Explorar esta zona fue una aventura maravillosa que disfruté enormemente.
To explore the area and get to know this beautiful place, I took a walk along the shoreline, following the mountain path; I enjoyed the views, the landscape, and the fresh morning breeze. I also observed various structures—or open-sided shelters—found in the area around the beach; there are several houses, mostly with palm-frond roofs, that provide protection from the sun's rays.
There were also several boats at the water's edge and some fishermen repairing their nets. The surf was gentle, though at times the waves moved with greater force. As I walked, I stopped to admire the palm trees swaying in the wind and the incredible view of the hill; one photograph captures how the sunlight hits the beach and mountain, creating a beautiful, enchanting seascape. Exploring this area was a delightful adventure that I truly enjoyed.
Durante mi paseo, también noté que, además de palmeras, hay varios árboles de uva de playa en la zona; la mayoría son grandes, con ramas extendidas, y se encuentran cerca de las cabañas. Estas cabañas suelen tener techos de hojas de palma —ideales para protegerse del sol— y se sostienen sobre columnas de madera o, en algunos casos, de hormigón.
La vista de la colina, la playa y la orilla es preciosa; el reflejo del sol en el agua luce espectacular e invita a darse un chapuzón refrescante. La siguiente foto muestra algunas de las columnas que sostienen las cabañas. Tras caminar y explorar esta parte de la playa, conversé con varios pescadores antes de dirigirme a otra zona para resguardarme del sol bajo una de estas estructuras abiertas por los costados; resultan increíblemente útiles para protegerse de los rayos solares. During my walk, I also noticed that, in addition to palm trees, there are several sea grape trees in the area; most are large with spreading branches and are located near the huts. These huts generally feature palm-frond roofs—ideal for sun protection—and are supported by columns made of wood or, in some cases, concrete.
The view of the hill, the beach, and the shoreline is lovely; the sun's reflection on the water looks spectacular and invites you to take a refreshing dip. The next photo shows some of the columns supporting the huts. After walking and exploring this part of the beach, I chatted with several fishermen before moving to another area to seek shelter from the sun under one of these open-sided structures—they are incredibly useful for protection against the sun's rays.
