En esta ocasión, comparto un breve recorrido por Guanta, uno de los municipios del estado Anzoátegui. Tras cruzar el límite entre los estados Sucre y Anzoátegui y recorrer varios kilómetros, llegamos a la localidad de Guanta; a la entrada, se encuentra un mural con letras gigantes rojas y blancas que forman la frase "Yo Guanta" (Yo [amo a] Guanta). Al fondo, se pueden apreciar la montaña y parte de la avenida principal de esta hermosa ciudad, conocida por sus atractivos naturales y recursos minerales. Entre los destinos más populares del municipio se encuentran Isla de Plata y el parque La Sirena; la primera forma parte del Parque Nacional Mochima, que abarca tanto el estado Sucre como el de Anzoátegui.

This time, I’m sharing a brief tour of Guanta, one of the municipalities in Anzoátegui State. After crossing the border between Sucre and Anzoátegui states and traveling several kilometers, we arrive at the town of Guanta; at the entrance, there is a mural featuring giant red and white letters spelling out "Yo Guanta" (I [Love] Guanta). In the background, you can see the mountain and part of the main avenue of this beautiful city—known for its natural attractions and mineral resources. Among the most popular destinations in the municipality are Isla de Plata and La Sirena Park; the former is part of Mochima National Park, which spans both Sucre and Anzoátegui states.
Guanta es una de las localidades más importantes del estado y la capital del municipio homónimo. Sus principales actividades económicas incluyen las industrias del cemento y el petróleo, las operaciones portuarias —ya que cuenta con uno de los puertos más relevantes del oriente venezolano—, la pesca artesanal y el turismo. En cuanto al turismo, la zona posee playas e islas destacadas que atraen a numerosos visitantes y amantes de la naturaleza; el Parque La Sirena y la Isla de Plata figuran entre los sitios más visitados del municipio.
A lo largo del recorrido se pueden apreciar las montañas de la Cordillera de la Costa, las avenidas de esta ciudad en crecimiento y algunos de los tanques de almacenamiento vinculados a la industria petrolera. Al entrar en la ciudad, se encuentra un paso elevado que exhibe la frase «Tu destino en el Caribe: Guanta»; la estructura es de color gris, con barandillas y muros en gris claro. Desde la avenida principal se divisa el espectacular paisaje montañoso, seguido de diversas viviendas situadas en la zona de montaña. Me llamó la atención la cantidad de casas ubicadas en lo alto de la montaña, formando un conjunto residencial donde destacan las construcciones de ladrillo. Cerca del paso elevado, señales informativas indican las direcciones hacia Puerto La Cruz, Barcelona, Caracas, el centro de Guanta y el puerto estatal situado en el municipio. Es una ciudad dinámica impulsada por la actividad comercial y un turismo en auge —el cual ha experimentado un incremento en los últimos meses debido a la temporada de vacaciones escolares, época en que los padres llevan a sus hijos a disfrutar de un merecido descanso antes de regresar a las aulas.
Guanta is one of the state's most important towns and the capital of the municipality of the same name. Its main economic activities include the cement and oil industries, port operations—as it boasts one of the most important ports in eastern Venezuela—artisanal fishing, and tourism. Regarding tourism, the area features significant beaches and islands that attract many visitors and nature enthusiasts; La Sirena Park and Isla de Plata are among the municipality's most visited sites.
Along the route, one can see the mountains of the Coastal Range, the avenues of this growing city, and some of the storage tanks associated with the oil industry. Upon entering the city, there is an overpass displaying the phrase "Your Caribbean Destination: Guanta"; the structure is gray, featuring light-gray railings and walls. Along the main avenue, the spectacular mountain scenery is visible, followed by various houses situated in the mountainous area. I was struck by the number of homes located high up on the mountain, forming a residential complex where the brick-built houses stand out. Near the overpass, informational signs indicate the directions to Puerto La Cruz, Barcelona, Caracas, the center of Guanta, and the state port located within the municipality. It is a dynamic city driven by commercial activity and growing tourism—which has surged in recent months due to the school holiday period, a time when parents take their children to enjoy a well-deserved break before returning to the classroom.
Esta carretera ofrece paisajes hermosos: por un lado, se ven las montañas y, por el otro, vistas de las encantadoras playas del Parque Nacional Mochima. A lo largo de este tramo también se pasa por varios pueblos y localidades pesqueras. Como mencioné anteriormente, las casas se sitúan al pie de la montaña; un detalle llamativo es cómo se ha aprovechado el espacio para la construcción, ya que las viviendas están edificadas una junto a la otra. Desde lejos parecen una sola casa enorme, pero al acercarse se pueden distinguir las unidades individuales por los colores de sus paredes, portones y puertas.
La siguiente fotografía muestra otra vista de la montaña, con casas salpicando las laderas bajas y medias; predomina la construcción en ladrillo y la mayoría de las viviendas se ubican en la base de la montaña ⛰️. En la entrada y salida de la ciudad hay letreros: uno dice "I Love Guanta" (Amo a Guanta) y otro desea un buen viaje e invita a regresar a esta hermosa ciudad, la cual cuenta con importantes destinos turísticos y es fácilmente accesible a través de la carretera nacional que conduce a Puerto la Cruz. This roadway offers beautiful scenery: on one side, you see the mountains, and on the other, views of the lovely beaches belonging to Mochima National Park. You also pass various towns and fishing villages along this stretch of road. As I mentioned earlier, the houses are situated at the foot of the mountain; a striking feature is how the space has been utilized for construction—the houses are built right next to each other. From a distance, they look like one massive house, but as you get closer, you can distinguish the individual units by the colors of their walls, gates, and doors.
The next photo shows another view of the mountain, with houses dotting the lower and middle slopes—brick construction predominates, and most residences are located at the mountain's base ⛰️. At the city's entrance and exit, there are signs: one reads "I Love Guanta," and another wishes you a pleasant journey and invites you to return to this beautiful city, which offers major destinations and is easily accessible via the national highway leading to Puerto la Cruz.
