Paseo playero por la "Calle la Marina" el Peñón, Cumaná [Esp-Eng]
Continuando con mi recorrido por la zona de El Peñón, quiero compartir mi visita a la calle La Marina, que bordea la playa. Esta es una de las calles más largas del vecindario y se extiende a lo largo de gran parte de la playa de El Peñón, un lugar conocido por sus aguas tranquilas, oleaje suave y poca profundidad, lo que la hace ideal para los niños. El paisaje es impresionante, especialmente al amanecer y al atardecer, aunque a cualquier hora del día se pueden disfrutar de hermosas vistas de la playa, donde las aguas —de un azul precioso— parecen fundirse con el cielo en el horizonte.
A un lado se alza una montaña cubierta en gran parte por vegetación, con palmeras y una formación rocosa rojiza; en las cercanías hay varios complejos residenciales y las vistas de la ladera son increíbles. Me encanta esta playa por su ubicación y por las hermosas panorámicas que se aprecian desde la calle. La zona también cuenta con enramadas (refugios al aire libre) o quioscos que ofrecen sombra y sirven como puntos clave para comprar asopados (guisos sustanciosos), platos de mariscos y, a menudo, pescado fresco. Además, hay diversas opciones de alojamiento, tascas y lugares de recreación para quienes visitan esta hermosa zona de la costa de Cumaná.
Continuing my tour of the El Peñón area, I’d like to share my visit to Calle La Marina, which follows the path along the beach. This is one of the longest streets in the neighborhood and spans a large stretch of El Peñón Beach—a spot known for its calm waters, gentle waves, and shallow depth, making it perfect for children. The scenery is stunning, especially at sunrise and sunset, though at any time of day you can enjoy beautiful views of the beach, where the waters—a gorgeous blue—seem to merge with the sky in the distance.
On one side lies a mountain largely covered in vegetation, featuring palm trees and a reddish rock formation; several residential complexes are located nearby, and the views of the hillside are incredible. I love this beach for its location and the beautiful panoramas visible from the street. The area also features enramadas (open-air shelters) or kiosks that offer shade from the sun and serve as key spots to buy asopados (hearty stews), seafood dishes, and—often—fresh fish. Additionally, there are various accommodations, tascas (taverns), and recreational spots for visitors to this beautiful area along the Cumaná coastline.
Durante mi caminata, vi varias palmeras cocoteras y disfruté de la hermosa vista de la playa, que cuenta con senderos de piedra y hormigón ideales para pasear y contemplar el mar. During my walk, I spotted several coconut palms and enjoyed the beautiful beach view, complete with stone and concrete walkways perfect for strolling and admiring the sea. I sat on the rocks for a while and felt the water on my feet; the sand is soft and white, and—as I mentioned earlier—the surf is gentle. Several people were resting under the trees.
Near the walkway, there are also several shaded structures nestled among the trees—perfect spots for escaping the sun, hosting celebrations, setting up stalls, or playing games. The sunlight reflecting off the water looked spectacular, creating a beautiful effect. Several boats were out at sea, making for one of my favorite views. I also took photos of the plants I saw on the beach—specifically the Uvero plants; these are found in various parts of the city, and the San Luis Beach monument and El Peñón area are no exception. Finally, here is a view of the walkways and areas designated for unloading the day's catch; the breeze at this time of day is cool and perfect for relaxing.
Siguiendo la ruta, tomé el sendero que serpentea entre rocas y árboles; aquí también hay pequeños muelles de concreto, rodeados de rocas y manglares. En este lugar abundan los árboles de Uvero, cuyas raíces y troncos suelen formar curvas que sirven de asientos naturales. En esta zona también se encuentran tabernas y restaurantes.

Continuing along the route, I took the path winding through the rocks and trees; there are also small concrete piers here, bordered by rocks and mangrove trees. Uvero trees—which are abundant in the region—are also found here; their roots and trunks often form curved shapes that serve as natural seats. Taverns and restaurants are located in this area as well.
Further along, we see a tree with curved branches and a beautiful view of the sun-drenched beach. Then, the famous enramadas come into view—rustic shelters handcrafted from wood and palm fronds. They are ideal for escaping the sun and also serve as places to buy food; on weekends, they often offer hearty seafood stews and other dishes from the sea. They are strategically located right near the beach. After traveling several kilometers and taking in the beautiful scenery, I sat beneath a tree to enjoy the cool breeze; thank you for joining me on this adventure.
