Pro-gov protest tents in front the Serbian Parliament (House of the National Assembly). Background story, why they are called "Ćacilend" in Serbian.

(Edited)

Witzige Story. Was sagt ihr dazu?

English

Since the mass protests in Serbia, pro-government tents have been set up in front of the Serbian parliament and numerous government buildings in Belgrade, but they are mostly empty and guarded by policemen.

The pro-government tents are jokingly called “Ćacilend” (ћациленд) in Serbian, a word created from Disneyland and a misspelling of the word for pupils (ђаци).

The mass protests against corruption in Serbia began mainly as school and student protests after the collapse of a newly renovated railway station roof.

In January of this year, a school was defaced with the slogan “Students (back) to school” (ĆACI U ŠKOLU), whereby the word for student was misspelled by counter-demonstrators. How ironic.

This then developed into the word for the (empty) pro-government tent camps, which many Serbs perceive as fake or a version of Disneyland.

Funny story. What do you think?

It sounds like a funny story, but I guess corruption happens everywhere

I think a lot of misspelling going on need to be taken seriously by the government, the protest and messing around when they start misspelling.

Eventually the police might get tired themselves. Are there police men and women that side with the protestors though? I know they get paid by the government so it's a rare case
