How much does a Cheddar Toast cost at Costa London (December 2025)
Ein einfacher Toast mit Cheddar und Tomaten kostet in einer Costa-Filiale 5.40 Pfund, das sind umgerechnet 6.15 Euro plus Umrechnungsgebühren. Das hat mich ein bisschen schockiert, da es sich eher um ein Fertigprodukt handelt.
Andererseits sind die Gastro-Preise auch in der EU seit Corona heftig gestiegen. Ein Cola in einem Tanzlokal in Wien kostet zum Beispiel schon 5.10 Euro.
Dann sind 6-7 Euro für einen Fertig-Toast vielleicht auch nicht so teuer.
Was sagt ihr dazu?

A simple toastie with cheddar and tomato costs £5.40 in a Costa branch in London, which is equivalent to €6.15 plus conversion fees. That shocked me a little at first, as it's more of a ready-made product.
On the other hand, restaurant prices in the EU have also risen sharply since corona. For example, a Coke in a dance club in Vienna costs already €5.10.
So maybe €6-7 for a ready-made toast isn't that expensive after all.

Hab mir dann doch den Toast gegönnt, war zumindest besser als die Verpackung vermuten ließ und wurde auch kurz aufgewärmt.

Ich zahle beim Billa in Wien an der Deli Theke ungefähr zwischen € 2.50 bis 3.- für Bauernschinken mit Emmentaler Käse auf einer frischen knusprigen Handsemmel. Die vorpaketierten Sandwiches lasse ich links liegen. Immer nur frisch herstellen lassen ist sogar noch billiger.
Krass teuer. London ist generell nicht günstig, aber das ist schon heftig.

Würde generell kein Weißbrot essen (ausser im Notfall), zu dem Preis schon gar nicht.
Das Gute an einem Toast ist ja, dass er frisch und knusprig ist. Aber in Plastik verschweißt? Nein, danke.
Kommt darauf an was man vertragt. Ich hab Probleme mit Sauerteig und Roggenbrot. Leider, denn es schmeckt, aber mein Magen rebelliert. Mit Plastik verschweißt - ja, da gebe ich dir recht. Selbst lass ich mir das frisch an der Deli Theke machen.

So here is some more trivia for you: my family in Canada (wife and son) ordered two footlong Subway sandwiches and paid CA$ 40.- for them. Das sind umgerechnet € 25.-, also € 12.50 für ein 30cm Subway. Now I looked it up here, at the Subway shops in Vienna, and here they are closer to € 15.- for one. But for € 15.- I can get a Naturschnitzel mit Beilagen und Salat bei meinem Stammwirt.
Or have you tried to price out KFC? Pure Highway robbery!
