Tahquamenon Falls in July - Marvelous Michigan

Having seen other waterfalls in our Walkabout, I needed more... and could not resist getting to Tahquamenon (rhymes with phenomenon.)

If you can only see one waterfall in the Upper Peninsula, this is it!

The brown color is from the tannins in the cedar swamps which the river flows from. It's basically tea - but not the kind you want to drink!

I definitely have to come back on the off-season - both for the changing scenery and for fewer people, so that I can take videos as well.

There are actually two waterfalls here. The Upper falls is the more majestic, but the Lower falls (below) are nice too. Maybe next time, I'll do the hike as well and get closer to the lower falls.

Still, a very nice place to go almost halfway between Newberry and Paradise, Michigan. I can't wait to go back!

Tahquamenon falls is so beautiful. IT's great that it goes through the forest and the color of the water is special too.
