Having A Picnic During The Extreme Hot Days [ENG-TUR]

I haven't written a travel or weekend activity post for a while. This is because I had taken a break from posting on HIVE and some busyness in my private life. Last weekend, Istanbul and almost all of Türkiye were scorched by the heat wave. In such a hot weather, we two friends wanted to go to a forest area and light a barbecue and a samovar to cool off instead of staying at home. However, we could not go to our favorite place, Esenceli, as the entrance to the forest areas in Istanbul was prohibited until October 15. Thus, we decided to go to Taşdelen Recreation Area in Çekmeköy district of Istanbul.

Bir süredir gezi ya da haftasonu aktivite yazısı paylaşmadım. Bunun nedeni, HIVE’da yazı yazmaya ara vermem ve özel hayatımdaki bir takım yoğunluklardan kaynaklanıyor. Geçtiğimiz haftasonu İstanbul ve hemen hemen tüm Türkiye sıcak havalardan kavruldu. Böyle bir sıcak havada evde durmaktansa serinlemek için iki arkadaş ormanlık bir alana gidip mangal ve semaver yakmak istedik. Fakat, İstanbul’da ormanlık alanlara giriş 15 Ekim tarihine kadar yasaklandığı için favori mekanımız Esenceli’ye gidemedik. Biz de İstanbul’un Çekmeköy ilçesinde bulunan Taşdelen Mesire alanına gitmeye karar verdik.

Spending most of Saturday sweaty, we made a plan the day before so as not to stay at home in the hot weather on Sunday. We met around noon on Sunday, bought the necessary materials for barbecue and picnic from the market and set off. Since Taşdelen Recreation Area is about 10 km away from us, we got there in half an hour. The demand to such paid recreation areas has been increasing because of the ban on entrance to the forest areas and Sunday. By the way, the admission fee is 50 TL. The Taşdelen recreation area is quite large and generally has a family-friendly concept; besides, picnic days of village associations are held here. I was last here 9 years ago. After driving around for a while, we went forward to a hilly place with relatively few people. The first photos I took from the recreation area;

Cumartesi gününün büyük bir kısmını terleyerek geçirdikten sonra Pazar günü de, sıcak havada evde durmamak için iki arkadaş bir gün öncesinden plan yaptık. Pazar günü öğlen gibi buluşup mangal ve piknik için gerekli olan malzemeleri marketten alıp yola çıktık. Taşdelen Mesire alanı bize yaklaşık 10 km uzaklıkta olduğu için yarım saatte oraya varmıştık. Pazar günü ve ormanlık alanlara girişlerin yasak olması nedeniyle bu tür ücretli mesire alanlarına olan talep artıyor. Bu arada giriş ücreti 50 TL. Taşdelen mesire alanı oldukça büyük ve genellikle aileye hitap eden bir konsepti var, bunun yanında köy derneklerinin de piknik günleri burada yapılıyor. Buraya en son 9 sene önce gelmiştim. Arabayla bir süre dolaştıktan sonra nispeten daha az insanın olduğu yerlere doğru geldik. Mesire alanından çektiğim ilk fotoğraflar;

Seeking for a few places, we decided to sit in a hilly place among the trees. We were surrounded by the trees as seen in the photos. However, the forest was no different from home in terms of temperature. Although we chose a shaded place, the wind was not blowing and we were sweating a lot. The barbecue smells coming from the environment made us hungry as well. We lit the fire of the barbecue and the samovar at the same time. Besides, we prepared our salad for the barbecue.

Birkaç yere baktıktan sonra, ağaçların içinde tepelik bir yerde oturmaya karar verdik. Etrafımız resimlerde görüldüğü gibi ağaçlarla çevriliydi. Yalnız, sıcaklık açısından ormanın da evden farkı yoktu. Gölgelik yer seçmemize ragmen rüzgar esmiyordu ve çok terlemiştik. Çevreden gelen mangal kokuları bizi de acıktırmıştı. Mangal ve semaverin ateşini aynı anda yaktık. Diğer taraftan mangal için salatamızı da hazırlamıştık.

We moved chairs, tables, and materials down to a flatter place with no sunlight an hour later. The forest had cooled down a bit and we could now sit comfortably. Meanwhile, the chicken chops on the barbecue were cooked.

Bir saat sonra, aşağıda güneş ışığının olmadığı daha düz bir yere sandalye, masa ve malzemeleri taşıdık. Orman biraz serinlemişti ve artık rahat oturabiliyorduk. Bu arada mangaldaki tavuk pirzolalar pişmişti.

We had our stomach full. At around five o'clock, we started to drink tea tea, which had been brewing in the samovar for a long time. We drank tea and chatted until 8 o'clock in the evening. There were still people grilling when we left. I guess they wanted to go home as late as possible because of the hot weather. It seems that we will come to Taşdelen Recreation area a few times until the ban on entry to forest areas is lifted. See you in my next travel or weekend activity post, take care of yourself. Karnımızı iyice doyurduk. Saat beş gibi, uzun süredir semaverde demlenen çayımızı içmeye başladık. Akşam saat 8’e kadar çay içip muhabbet ettik. Biz ayrılırken hala mangal yakan insanlar vardı. Hava sıcak olduğu için mümkün olduğunca eve geç gitmek isitiyorlardı galiba. Ormanlık alanlara giriş yasağı kalkana kadar birkaç kez Taşdelen Mesire alanine geleceğiz gibi görünüyor.
