Hi Friends

Although Istanbul has been relatively cool in recent days, it has been extremely hot in our country since the end of July. Rather than staying at home in such hot weather at the weekend, it makes more sense to go on a picnic or to the sea to cool off whenever possible. I wrote about the Taşdelen Recreation area in Çekmeköy district of Istanbul in my previous weekend activity post. The next week, again we two friends decided to go to Crying Rock beach, located in Şile district of Istanbul, which is famous for its sea.

We made our plan during the week as it was clear in the forescast that the weather would be very hot at the weekend. We took the necessary things for the sea and set off at 10 am on Saturday morning. Two camping chairs, an umbrella, a camping fridge and a table were enough, as we do not like to go to the sea in crowds. We took something to eat and drink on the way and then continued on our way to the sea. We reached the city center of Şile after about 40 mins. Passing by the city center of Şile and then entering from the next junction, we reached Crying Rock beach at noon.

The sea was wavy as usual. Yet, people were swimming under the watchful eye of lifeguards. I can't remember the last time I saw the sea of Şile calm. There are better beaches in Şile, but they are far away and there was no enough time. Since other nearby beaches wouldnot be any different, we decided to stay here. The beach was not very crowded. After finding a suitable place on the beach, we set up our chairs and umbrella. It is very difficult to swim when Şile is choppy. Even though you know how to swim very well, you are warned by the lifeguards after crossing the border rope. The only thing to do at such times is to play with the waves without crossing the border line like everyone else :)

After being once in the sea, we ate what we bought on the way and drank our beers. I can say that beer in the beach goes very well. Meanwhile, the beach had become crowded. I went to the sea a few more times. Having stayed in the beach for about 4 hours, we left to return home. I was quite tanned due to both the sun's shines and the harsh waves. See you in my next travel or weekend activity post, take care of yourself. All photos in this post belong to me. Thank you for reading.

I used to think that Istanbul is located on the shores of the Black Sea. But I looked at the map and saw: this is the Marmara Sea. Is it so? Your photos look incredible. The sea is deep dark blue. A different color than the Mediterranean Sea in Kemer. Here the sea is more turquoise.

Istanbul has coastlines with both the Sea of Marmara and the Black Sea.
