Bitter, sweet and luminous

Today I have been feeling a little bit sick, that discomfort in which the chest seems to be stuck, the throat hurts, no sense of smell or taste, the body feels hot inside and cold on the outside. I tried to cheer myself up with some music and even remembering delicious moments but nothing was working for me...

This started since last night, yesterday afternoon it was drizzling while I was outside and although I liked to feel the raindrops hitting my face and tried to think that rain is healthy for me, this time it didn't work for me and in the evening I started to feel bad.

I drank an infusion of lemongrass, lemon balm and lemon. I can't deny that I like it very much and when I feel some physical discomfort, it is one of my first choices.

But, tonight, nothing motivated me to get out of bed. That's one of the disadvantages of living alone, there are many good things, but not so good too. For example, if someone lived with me and made coffee, I'm sure just the aroma in the air would awaken my sense of smell and, seeing that person drinking it, would make me want to get up.

Tonight it seemed that there was no way, I was not provoked by the infusion, it did not provoke me anything, to tell the truth.... However, I suddenly got a craving that seemed a little crazy, I thought that no one had ever done it and then I laughed at myself for my ignorance when I found enough information about it and maybe here also has already been published what I will share below, but for me it is something new, so, I ask a little indulgence, if it is not too much to ask.

Well, without further ado, I tell you that today for the first time I prepared coffee with ginger and I really liked it, it exceeded my expectations, I told myself that if I didn't like it I wouldn't publish it and, as you can see....

I liked it!

Thinking about it and imagining it was what got me out of bed tonight. At first, I thought it might be a pernicious combination, again excuse my ignorance, but contrary to what I thought, some websites tell about its benefits.

I offer apologies for not posting any links here, however, I don't want to recommend something I'm not sure about. This time, I am only talking about my one night experience.

I boiled half a cup of water with about 5 slices of ginger and a teaspoon of ground coffee.

I strained it through cloth. It was very good to know that my sense of smell is still alive. What better way to test it than with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee.

I sweetened with 1 teaspoon of honey and the magic was almost done.

While took the photos, the cup was hot but the coffee was lukewarm to my taste. I don't like reheated coffee unless I know it is freshly brewed. I took it back to the fire for a moment and drank it very hot, I like hot coffee, I have no patience to drink it, I still enjoy it, in my own way.

I really thought this blend was great, I did not expect such a good taste. When I finished it, I lay down for a while, relaxed a lot and closed my eyes.

My body was relaxed even though in my mouth there was celebration, my tongue savoring the delicious bitterness left from the coffee and the tender sweetness of the honey. My throat with a slight burning left by the ginger, like when you pour alcohol on a small wound and you feel that it is healing, of course that is not pleasant, although if it were very slight (say 1%) it can feel like a little bit of fire that does not burn, like a little warmth originated by a small light.

I really imagined that it would be a very bad combination, but on the other hand I was craving to try it, then I remembered a slogan from a commercial of a famous Venezuelan brand:

"Don't say no, if you haven't tried it".

Thank you for accompanying me 😉

Lemongrass sounds like a great option from the symptoms described. However, that coffee and ginger sounds like a genius combination:)

I liked the coffee with ginger very much, although for breakfast it provoked me with milk, that was a few hours ago. Now, as I write this, I am drinking lemongrass infusion with lemon and ginger. For the afternoon snack I will probably prepare dark coffee with ginger again.

Today I feel better than last night, thanks for your good wishes.

And how nice your picture and the messages on it 😍

I do like lemongrass tea and lemon and ginger too. Especially if the tea is made from fresh ingredients. I prefer to do it from scratch than to use teabags, unless it's a very exquisite teabag😆

Unless it's a very exquisite teabag

Ah, I understand, hahaha....

I make my infusions with fresh ingredients. Where I used to live I used to have some sowing, now I don't have space for it, but I hope to be able to do it again.

Same here. I used to grow lemongrass and other herbs, but I'm not where I live now. Hopefully, I'll do it again in the future when I have the space:)))

This is a discovery for me. Coffee and ginger? I wouldn't have thought of mixing them, but I'm sure I'm going to try it today;) I hope you get well soon.
Saludos!

For me it was also a discovery, it simply provoked me and I looked to see if it was not so crazy and it turns out that many consume it and it is said that it has many benefits.

Thanks for your good wishes! 🤗
