Beneath The Reflections. #Reflection Contest Round 162

There is joy and echoes of celebrations everywhere in my country now. The Muslims just concluded their Ramadan fasting. They were expecting that my today being Tuesday, 9th of April they would have had their Salah celebrations. But late in the evening yesterday, they got a directive from their clerics that they would continue the fasting today.

The public holidays would be extended because of that extension in the fasting. The Salah celebrations would rather be on Wednesday, 10th April. This has affected some of our public service providers because we would have to endure another day without going to work. That wouldn't be fun for those who had budgeted what they would spend for 2 days not 3 days. However it is, we are in it so we must endure it.

A few days ago, the Christians sect rounded up their lent fasting too and observed the Easter Celebration. That was fun too. I am a Christian. We had fun going to church; visiting friends and cooking special delicacies. There was momentary joy and celebrations.

Why I refer to these as momentary is because the pains are experienced by the masses in tending in a different direction than one could see in the faces of these celebrations. We hear the cry for hunger; we hear the groaning from the high cost of goods and so on. When one should be expecting true celebration inside out, it seems as if we are experiencing false joy in the faces of the masses.

When I looked at the reflection from this stagnant pool of water in my neighborhood, it brought to my mind that the celebrations and momentary shouts of joy could be like the reflection on the surface of the pool. Under the pool, there is debris; death and toxic deposits. One wouldn't even want to put his leg inside. But on the outside, the reflection is beautiful to view. Until the pains we are going through now as the citizenry is alleviated, the celebration is just an illusionary reflection not the truth.

It's still a holiday here too so those working in public agencies have a long weekend. You captured nice reflections. Good luck to you in the contest.
