Weekend Belongs to Bingsu: Always in the mood for Sweets

Because I was so busy since Monday, I forgot to share here the events of last weekend. Since there is no school today and I am about to finish my Thesis to be defended by next week, I decided to take this time to share with you the wonderful experience my partner and I had last Sunday.

So while we were eating lunch, he asked me what I wanted for something refreshment. It's so hot here in the Philippines today and even if you're at home, you'll definitely get sunburned. Ever since the heat index has risen here in our area, there hasn't really been a day that we don't drink or eat cold food. Just good luck because of the cold things we eat, our tonsils will definitely swell.

Anyways, going back, while we were eating lunch, I was thinking of something cold that we could try. I told him that I also missed eating Bingsu so without second guessing, we looked for a Bingsu shop that we could go to.

There are several Bingsu Restaurants near our place but my Partner picked Cafe Seolwa, 17 kilometers away from us! I told him that we can go anywhere as long as it was near our location since it's really freaking outside. But he told me that if I want Bingsu, then we should go to the real legit shop that really offers the original Bingsu from Korea. So since he was right, I just agreed to go there, and after all, it was his treat.

We arrived here after 45 minutes since our taxi passed through the skyway which reduced the travel time. But if we commute using public transportation, for sure it will take us one to two hours to get here in Parañaque.

When we walked into the store, I was struck by how welcoming it was. Because there were few people in the area, my partner and I had a great time taking pictures. But, because we were in search for Bingsu, we quickly ordered what we were going to eat. The cashier offered us their latest Bing Su, which is the Coco flavor, but my partner and I were in the need for something else, so we selected Berry Cheese Bing Su and Mango Cheesecake Bing Su.

While the staff was fixing our orders, my partner and I chose a good spot. Of course, because it was hot outside, we sat near the air conditioner. We also selected a seat with a couch so we could really feel the homey nature of the restaurant. While waiting, the two of us talked about the design of the shop. He also reviewed the paintings and bricks on the wall. Meanwhile, I was very happy to take a picture of the cups and the small plant here on our table, lol.

With less than ten minutes, my order finally arrived. I told my hubby that I will wait for his order to arrive before I taste it, so while waiting, I feasted my eyes first on taking pictures.

Just a few moments later, his Berry Cheese Bing Su arrived so we started feasting on Korean Bing Su. This is an honest review, the shaved ice is very legit and you can really taste the milk. We had Bing Su few months ago but I can attest the total difference, it was also delicious but we didn't really feel the milk in that shaved ice. But it's clear that the ingredients at Cafe Seolwa were not skimped on. I was especially pleased since the richness of the Mango Cheesecake was mitigated by the flavor of the cubes of cheesecake, which I initially mistook for blocks of cheese. Their ice cream taste is also authentic, that has a plus for Bing Su, and I believe they create the ice cream themselves because the mango flavor is pure. My partner's Berry Cheese was also great, although at the time, I didn't appreciate the sourness of the strawberries, but I still enjoy the berry ice cream!

I can say that our trip to Parañaque was very worth it. I told my hubby that we will come back and hopefully, they will offer other flavors because last time, I think only five flavors were available. As for the price, I can say that the price is just right and it feels like you are really in other country. We are also hoping that they will also open another branch near us because the place is really far away and it is like we have gone for a walk in the neighboring provinces. But like I said, if the refreshment they provide to customers is so authentic, it's worth going.
