Cute little Golden Scruffy!

Namaste to all fungi hunters!

Do you believe that certain days and times are so special that the words that come out of your mouth at that time magically become true?

It was about 3-4 days back that the weather was delightful during the evening, so I got ready for the evening walk in a happy mood and while leaving the house I told my wife that I am going for mushroom hunting, I just hope that this time I get to see different colorful mushrooms instead of the same common white rounded mushrooms like the previous season.

Some of you might not believe it, but after walking just 10 steps in the park, I saw something shining differently from the colours scattered all around near a wall. First, I crossed it without paying much attention, then as soon as my mind reacted after 2 seconds, I suddenly stopped, took a few steps back and looked in that direction and found this very cute saffron coloured tiny mushroom.

Let me tell you that apart from the dozens of unique and beautiful mushrooms I saw in this Fungi Friday initiative organized by @ewkaw I had never seen so many mushrooms in person. And this was literally the first time I was seeing such a unique mushroom with my own eyes, so obviously I was excited to take a lot of pictures of it and learn about it without uprooting it, but to take a picture of its gills, I had to uproot it.

Its gills were a stark white colour in contrast to its upper surface, and while plucking it, I noticed that its upper saffron color surface was like light fur, which stuck to my skin with just a little pressure, and it was actually its colour which got transferred to my hand wherever I held it.

I was doing all this without knowing anything about it, so I was a little afraid that it might be poisonous in some way, but to be honest, it was looking so cute that at that time I was just thinking that if I had talked about my real big dreams while leaving the house, then today perhaps those dreams would have been fulfilled too. 🍀😊

According to Google Lens, this is the Cyptotrama Aspata mushroom, which is commonly known as the Golden Scruffy. It is not edible at all and has no special medicinal use, but due to its vibrant colour and look, it is popular among nature photographers.

Good morning, Mr. @untilwelearn

I'm glad you didn't have to walk far to find this beautiful mushroom.

I love its striking color, and it's strange that its gills remain white.

Beautiful photographs.
