A Weekend in Reno Nevada

Reno: The Biggest Little City in the World
Reno: The Biggest Little City in the World

We spent a few days in Reno, Nevada. It was a business trip for team-building and camaraderie away from the office. It was a nice trip. Reno is an interesting city, parts of it remind me of Las Vegas.

Our Hotel

We stayed at the Whitney Peak Hotel Reno, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, which was a pleasantly nice hotel.

The outside of the hotel has walls for rock climbing attached to the sides. We didn't make time to try it but it looks like fun.

The parking garage for the hotel is across the street. We saw some artwork and sculptures near the building. I particularly liked this view of people loading onto the train below us.

The downtown area has three large connected Casino Hotels. El Dorado Entertainment purchased Caesars Entertainment, and all three venues are interconnected. This is the view from our hotel room window, where you can see El Dorado, Silver Legacy is in the middle under the big white sphere, and Circus Circus is on the far end.

The entrance to the El Dorado has a large water feature with fountains and sculptures.

After a short walk through El Dorado, we arrived at the Silver Legacy. This is underneath the big white sphere from the previous photo.

Here is another view of the sphere from the outside at street level. This is not to be confused with the newly constructed sphere in Las Vegas.

Baseball - Reno Aces

We went to a minor league baseball game at Greater Nevada Field to watch the Reno Aces play the Las Vegas Aviators.

We had good seats close to home plate. We even had a few foul balls land within a couple of rows of us. As you can see, there were not many people sitting in our section. It was a low scoring game and the Reno team lost, but we still had a good time hanging out with people and eating the classic ballpark food and snacks.

That's all to report for this trip. Feel free to comment if you have any questions about Reno or anything to add.
