My Actifit Report Card: April 3 2024

We were treated to a sunny and quite warm day that was perfect for a 4 mile hike through the hills around Thumb Butte.

It was nice to wake up to a day with sunny skies and no chill in the air. We were all ready for a walk so it was a nice and slow family walk so that my wife could enjoy the walk with us.
Our pace was easy, especially when we hit the dirt section but everyone was having a good time and it was beautiful with plenty of wildflowers showing off their colors - such as these grape hyacinths - growing alongside of the road.

It was free parking day at the Federal park lands so Thumb Butte had a nice crowd of people (and some dogs 🐕) out to enjoy the scenic outdoors.
I have hiked (and run into healthier years) these trails and they never disappoint me with the tranquil beauty and natural splendor in a spot just a few miles from home. Miles and miles of trails with plenty of variety to please just about anybody (like my little Lulu 🐕🐕🐕)

The trail weaved up, down and around through the scrubby forest with plenty of interesting smells for Lulu to check while I followed in her wake. Thankfully the temperature wasn't too hot (70 degrees or so) and I was carrying a water bottle for us but Lulu prefers her liquid refreshments to be more natural

We passed just a couple of other people on the trail and the miles were so nice and the time passed easily as we finally hot the final stretch downhill back to the parking lot and the end of our hike.
