My Actifit Report Card: March 15 2024

Spring might be just around the corner but today we were treated to periods of light snow in the hills and sleety rain for our outdoor activities.

We managed to get in our 2 miles this morning on between rain drops and a very chilly wind. Even Lulu was more interested in moving right along to get the walk done and get back to our dry home.
Later in the day we headed a bit further past Lynx Lake to a former CCC camp located near the town of Walker. All that remains of the 100 year old site are a few bits of foundation and a slag pile from the old mine smelter high above the narrow ravine on Lynx Creek.

Old roads and mining trails zigzaged above the creek and occasionally we could clamber down to the creek to hike around a bit but the route was very narrow and difficult to navigate for any distance so we mostly hiked along hogh above the water.

After that we went out for a loop around Lynx Lake under increasingly darkening skies but only a few little bits of snow fell as we circled the lake. A good number of folks were also out hiking and it was great to see people outdoors enjoying Mother Nature.

Despite the dreary weather it felt great to be out in the forest taking in the beautiful scenery and wondering how the area looked over a hundred years ago when it was a gold mining area. Now it's just a very tranquil spot to get outdoors any day of the year.
Not to mention how much Lulu loves our time together outdoors and she's my little Nature Girl.
