My Actifit Report Card: September 23 2023

Off and on drizzle slowed us down in the morning but Mother Nature was kind and the sky cleared ad the sun came out for us on a hard 4 mile hike up into the hills around Lynx Creek.

Our normal morning loop was cut short to just over a mile or so as the light patter of rain drops turned into a steady drizzle that began to soak us before we quickly headed back home.
Since Lulu didn't get much of a walk I treated her to an hour at the dog park before heading out for some outdoors time over by Lynx Creek.

I've always been interested in hiking up the old road that goes by the old Bannie copper mine that lent its name to this winding Forest road up onto the Big Bug Mesa several miles away.

The very rough and rocky road is now suitable for off-road vehicles and hikers but once probably was busy with the mine in action as the steep sides were supported by hand laid rock walls. The tranquil and isolated hills and narrow valleys were beautiful as we trekked slowly up the ever-climbing road that was alive with lots of pretty wildflower blossoms.

Lulu was enjoying the hike even with the ascent but the overcast sky and breeze kept us quite comfortable. I checked out the old mine that didn't really have much interesting minerals on the old dumps but a few mining claim signs showed that there's still at least a little bit of gold left in these rugged hills.

We sat for a bit to relax and enjoy the expansive views of the landscape below us and wondered how much (or little) the scenery had changed in the past 100+ years.
Then it wad time for Lulu to get a cooling drink and dip in a wet seep and then it was back down the road and a little time at Lynx Creek.
