My Actifit Report Card: January 4 2023

Finally a day in 2023 without snow or rain falling but still cloudy and fairly dreary all the same. At least the snow is melting which will help recharge our water supply and make the creeks flow nicely.
Lulu and I went out early for a short and quick walk so that we could get on the road to Cleator for some backcountry prospecting. No one else was out and even all of our dog pals were still indoors. My pace was quick as I wanted to get going and Lulu was content to keep up.
It was a tad warmer in Cleator but still damp and cloudy but that made our long hike down to and along Turkey Creek fairly comfortable.

This area was a busy gold mining hub almost a hundred years ago but all that remains of those days are the piles of waste rock from the mines and scattered ruins among the hills. We kept to the narrow flat edges of the creek as we hiked almost 2 miles down to a wide spor where we rested and then I hunted around for a few hours while Lulu watched while occasionally looking for critters to chase.

Fortunately the trail we took wasn't too steep so our hike back to the car was long but not too strenuous (but Lulu really wanted to check out everything along the way)
