THE FOREST NATURE SHOTS PHOTOGRAPHY

THE FOREST NATURE SHOTS PHOTOGRAPHY

I'm going to film some nature shots, and I'm going for a chill, calming, peaceful feel. I think the key when it comes to any post is having a purpose and being able consistently execute that.

Consistency is really important here because you want to make intentional choices that affect the outcome of your postand you want those to be kind of an imprint of your vision and your creative ideas. I'm going to be filming a lot of this very wide to go for an immersive feel and also because I think it really sets the scene.

The first few clips achieve that purpose, just showing you where we are. They're all wide with very little camera movement. The next shot is our first close up, which I filmed at 60 frames per second because | knew I wanted a slow, chill vibe. With every clip, I try to have a good reason for the way I film it. And this applies regardless of what camera.

Even though l'm using a mirrorless camera here, I would try to make the same purposeful choices with a phone. WhileI film, I'm also recording audio from an on camera microphone because I want to capture the sounds of the rainforest.

For the movements I'm going with a lot of slow sliding, and I'm going to be using my camera strap in order to keep that stable. The camera strap worked well to reduce the shake coming from my arms, so in most of the clips, my only edit, apart from color, was around 10% of the warp stabilizer effect in Premiere. But there were still several clips where it took a few tries to get it right in-camera. Once I was successful, it was a simple edit again.

I like to get different angles like getting down low and looking up because it changes the perspective so that you can see things that you wouldn't otherwise see. With the ending, I want to wrap up the post keeping in mind the 2 most important things:purpose and story. The purpose is for a calming, relaxing feeling, and the story brings us from the ferns of the rainforest, to the water that nourishes them.

That's why I ended with this clip showingboth.Throughout the process, from planning to filming to editing, I always try to make choices in service of my purpose and story. When it all comes together, it's one of my favorite feelings. I hope you can feel it too.
