The View of the Kurai steppe from the pass

My journey to the Altai Mountains continues to be told in photographs. This time I will focus on such a natural object as the famous Kurai steppe. The steppe itself, when you drive through it, does not feel so beautiful and delightful. But when you rise above it to a height of several kilometers and look down, it lies in your palm. And only dark spots from clouds move across its surface.

The Kurai steppe itself is located above the level of the World Ocean at an altitude of 1.5 kilometers. It is more than two dozen kilometers across. We drove a truck through it for a very long time, on the way to the mountains.

And all along our way we met only one transshipment base. As it is, there are no settlements there at all. Standing on the pass and looking at this beauty, I want to flap my wings and soar over this plain. But unfortunately I'm not a bird, and I can't fly.

The mountain river Aktru flows through this steppe. Having climbed the pass, we can hardly see our camp below us. He remained several kilometers below. And here there are only mountains and clouds.

The only mountains that can be better than mountains are the ones you haven't been to yet!
