A dinosaur in my backyard
This iguana is used to see humans around, we don't touch them but we walk around them all the time. It was hiding from the sun. It's a hot day.
This is how big it is, not the biggest but still more than a meter long. It also looks old, because of its gray and dry skin.
Well, it is an iguana, but the fact that I was looking for a snake that my uncle saw getting into that pile of wood when I found it makes it crazier.
A few days ago a cat ate a snake that was around there, today we learned that there is another one there and this iguana is just hanging out with it, totally chillin'.
I live in a dry área, in Lara, Venezuela, and we have a lot of reptiles and insects that are miniature of the ones in Australia, they are also harmless in comparison, but it's still pretty common to see scorpions, centipedes, lizards, snakes, wasps, and so on. We have learned to live with them and usually, we are okay we any of them around as long they stay outside of our house or the closest part of our backyard.
The climate change caused by malpractice in agriculture has made the area around my house drier than it should be, the soil was arid in some places, and dark in others, but the weather used to be humid, this looked like a moor, we even have Spanish moss on a tree typical form arid areas called "Cují" (Prosopis juliflora). Right now there is no water around to keep healthy all the native flora and fauna, and we can't provide it because there is not much for humans either. That is why we can see iguanas like this one too close to our houses, looking for shade, water, and flowers in the backyard or garden to eat.

I'd have been so scared if I met anything that large in my back yard!
Iguanas are the less scary things in that backyard. We have found hella big Rattlesnake in the past, those were scary hahaha
I have seen some iguanas as well. I like to call them "The second closest thing to dinosaurs." One time I heard that iguanas change color due to their emotion. If they are bright and green, they say that they are happy and in a good mood, but if they are gray like that, they say that means that they are not in a good mood. I don't have any proof behind this, so don't take my word for it.
Hens are like dinosaurs too, I heard one yesterday screaming like a velociraptor from the movies xD.
Interesting that theory about iguanas, I might keep an eye on them to see if they change. I've noticed them being grey when old, especially in the dry season, and they are bright green when they are young, especially in the rainy season. And they do be happier in the rainy season when there is so much to eat, and drink, and many places to hide.
You never know, you might see an iguana transform into a dinosaur and RULE THE WORLD!! I think I went a little too far there. 😂
Yay! 🤗
