Metalia - the hidden beach and ruins of an old abandoned mine in Thassos (GR)
Hello travelers
As you may have already noticed, many of the attractions we visited in Thassos were relatively close to where we were staying, so in this blog I will introduce you to some fabulous places we discovered here on the island.
It was about two kilometers from the hotel where we were staying to the beach, and the walk took us about 50 minutes, but we took it easy, stopping at a store to buy some water and something sweet to eat.
We could have come by car, but we preferred to get some exercise on this beautiful summer day. Part of the road is paved and most of it is dirt, so every time a car passed us, it kicked up a cloud of dust.
If any of you want to visit this place, you should know that you can go by car and there is free parking at the bottom, right next to the beach.
After about 50 minutes, we arrived at the beach, sat down at the terrace where we drank mineral water and rested. Honestly, the trip was quite demanding for us.
Standing there on the terrace, I noticed some ruins somewhere behind the terrace. I asked the person at the bar what those buildings behind the terrace were, and he told me that it was a mine and abandoned administrative buildings.
When I heard that, I lost my desire to go to the beach and sunbathe. What do you think? I set off on foot again to explore the place.
Come with me to explore an abandoned mine and its administrative headquarters. We couldn't find the actual entrance to the mine; I think it was blocked off. If the entrance hadn't been blocked off, it could have been a real danger to those who wanted to go inside.
A view of Metalia Beach from above, from the ruins of the former mine.
After visiting this place in its entirety, I can say that it does not seem to me to resemble a mine, but rather a well-built fortress that could not be conquered by anyone. That is my opinion. What do you think?
After exploring every inch of what remained of the administrative headquarters of this abandoned mine, we returned to the terrace, where we saw a hidden place.
We discovered a tunnel through the rock that led to a wild, undeveloped beach.
Dear visitors, today's blog has come to an end. I hope you enjoyed the places I shared with you.
THE END!

That arch, cave-like formation makes the place more beautiful.
That's right, the place is absolutely fabulous, thank you for visiting.
I saw the umbrellas on the beach, neatly aligned and precisely aligned. It was truly beautiful.
Indeed, everything here was perfectly aligned, and the image was absolutely fabulous. I really appreciate the Greek atmosphere.
Thank you for stopping by.
