📷 Snowy Graz - Part 2: Street Scenes at Jakominiplatz [EN/DE]
Hello everyone! Today I would like to show you the second part of my photos from one of the extremely rare snowy winter days in Graz. After Annenstraße in part 1, today's pictures are from Jakominiplatz. It is a central hub for public transportation and therefore probably the busiest square in the entire city—ideal for street photography.
Hallo zusammen! Heute möchte ich euch den zweiten Teil meiner Fotos von einem der extrem seltenen, verschneiten Wintertage in Graz zeigen. Nach der Annenstraße in Teil 1, stammen die heutigen Bilder vom Jakominiplatz. Es handelt sich um einen zentralen Knotenpunkt der öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel und somit ist dieser Platz wohl der belebteste der gesamten Stadt – also ideal für die Straßenfotografie.
Post-processing the images proved to be more challenging than I thought. I usually edit my street shots to give them a dark, moody look, but I found that the presets I use as a starting point for my edits don't work at all with snow photos. The snow turned gray and didn't look good at all. So I had to experiment and watch a few YouTube videos on editing snow photos to figure out how to make the images look wintery and atmospheric.
Die Nachbearbeitung der Bilder erwies sich für mich herausfordernder, als ich dachte. Normalerweise bearbeite ich meine Street Shots in einem dunklen moody Look, doch ich stellte fest, dass meine Presets, die ich als Ausgangsbasis für meine Bearbeitungen verwende, bei Schnee-Fotos überhaupt nicht funktionieren. Der Schnee wurde grau und kam überhaupt nicht zur Geltung. Ich musste also erstmal experimentieren und ein paar YouTube-Videos zur Bearbeitung von Schnee-Fotos ansehen, um herauszufinden, wie ich die Bilder winterlich und stimmungsvoll wirken lassen kann.
In the end, however, I succeeded and was very happy with the results. I saved the basic settings as a new Lightroom preset so that I can access them again when I'm lucky enough to take photos in the snow again. Have a nice Sunday!
Letztendlich gelang es mir aber und ich war mit den Ergebnissen sehr zufrieden. Ich speicherte die Grundeinstellungen gleich als neues Lightroom-Preset, damit ich wieder darauf zugreifen kann, wenn ich mal wieder das Glück habe, im Schnee zu fotografieren. Habt einen schönen Sonntag!

Amazing photos! The snow is really heavy and intense. I love snow, even though I've never seen it in person.
It must be interesting to live in a place like that, so different from the hot climate here in Brazil.

My wife is from Mexico and I remember when I took her into the snow for the very first time, she was so amazed 😃 Although in general we don't have much snow here. I can imagine how happy she must have been, it must have been amazing! Moments like these remain etched in our memory, when something happens for the first time and it's something good.
