📷 First Steps in Edinburgh [EN/DE]
For how many years had I been planning to finally visit Edinburgh? How often did I see pictures of this incredibly photogenic city on social media and was impressed every single time? I had stopped counting long ago. But this month, the time had finally come. For four days, I explored the Scottish capital with my camera and couldn't stop marveling at it. My first photo spot was the famous Vennel Viewpoint. It was a cool morning, it had rained all night and the streets were still drying up while the sky was overcast. I didn't want to just photograph the view as I had seen it in so many pictures. As a street photographer, it was important to me to bring in the human element. I waited patiently, and then it happened: this girl with her open gray coat fluttering in the wind slowly walked down the steps and fit perfectly into my composition. That's how one of my favorite photos of the entire trip was taken on the very first morning.
Wie viele Jahre lang, plante ich, endlich Edinburgh zu besuchen? Wie oft sah ich Bilder dieser unglaublich fotogenen Stadt auf Social Media und war jedes Mal auf's Neue beeindruckt? Ich hatte schon lange aufgehört mitzuzählen. Doch diesen Monat war es endlich soweit. Vier Tage lang erkundete ich die schottische Hauptstadt mit meiner Kamera und kam aus dem Staunen kaum heraus. Mein erster Fotospot war der berühmte Vennel Viewpoint. Es war ein kühler Morgen, die ganze Nacht hatte es geregnet und die Straßen waren noch dabei aufzutrocknen, der Himmel wolkenverhangen. Ich wollte nicht einfach die Aussicht fotografieren, wie ich sie schon auf so vielen Bildern gesehen hatte. Als Streetfotograf war es mir wichtig, das Menschliche Element einzubringen. Ich wartete geduldig und dann geschah es: Dieses Mädchen mit dem offenen grauen Mantel, der im Wind flatterte, spazierte langsam die Stufen herab und passte einfach perfekt in meine Bildkomposition. So entstand eines meiner Lieblingsfotos der gesamten Reise bereits am allerersten Morgen.
