The Balmoral Hotel is one of Edinburgh’s most famous luxury hotels and is situated directly on Princes Street, at the eastern end of the Old Town. It opened in 1902 and is particularly renowned for its striking clock tower, which dominates the city’s skyline. The hotel combines Victorian elegance with modern comfort and features, amongst other things, a Michelin-starred restaurant as well as stylish bars and spa facilities. On my very last evening in the Scottish capital, I attempted to capture this iconic building using long exposures with light trails from vehicles during the blue hour. Post-processing the images proved somewhat challenging, as only the upper part of the building is well lit. In the end, however, I achieved satisfactory results. Which of the three images do you like best?

Das The Balmoral Hotel ist eines der bekanntesten Luxushotels in Edinburgh und liegt direkt an der Princes Street, am östlichen Ende der Altstadt. Es wurde 1902 eröffnet und ist besonders für seinen markanten Uhrturm bekannt, der die Skyline der Stadt prägt. Das Hotel verbindet viktorianische Eleganz mit modernem Komfort und beherbergt unter anderem ein Michelin-Sterne-Restaurant sowie stilvolle Bars und Spa-Bereiche. An meinem allerletzten Abend in der schottischen Hauptstadt, versuchte ich dieses ikonische Gebäude in Form von Langzeitbelichtungen mit Lichtspuren von Fahrzeugen zur blauen Stunde in Szene zu setzen. Die Nachbearbeitung der Bilder gestaltete sich etwas schwierig, da nur der obere Teil des Gebäudes gut beleuchtet wird. Am Ende kam ich aber doch zu zufridenstellenden Ergebnissen.
