Journey to the Botanical Garden of Coimbra

Hello everyone, welcome to another trip and get ready because it will be interesting and full of curiosities. This time the visit was to the Botanical Garden of the University of Coimbra. Let's start by understanding why it was created.
During the century 18 A. C due to the need to complement the study of Natural History and Medicine at the University of Coimbra.
Stands out Marquis de Pombal given that was a great driver of its construction in 1773. This botanical garden has 13.5 hectares and was built on land donated by Benedictine Friars.
When I entered I was dazzled by the immensity of this garden, there were so many different plants and trees, and all very interesting, it is impossible to know everything in 1 day. Unfortunately, I only had 4 hours to explore this huge garden.

The bamboo area was my favorite part of this garden. It made me feel in an immense Asian forest what I found extremely fun and interesting, everything was calm and delicate, from the atmosphere to the singing of the birds, it was perfect, although it was a huge climb, it was fun due to the water channels that made a relaxing and relaxing music.

In the middle of the bamboo forest, there was this chapel of St. Benedict that was introduced in the garden in 1852, which has made me feel in the middle of an Indiana Jones or Jumanji adventure.

At the end of exploring the bamboo area we found an area where there was a tree from all over the world, I liked the Cherry, which as we are in spring, is blooming, which makes it beautiful due to the pink tones that make a perfect contrast in the middle of a green garden.

After seeing the cherry trees we entered a small area of trees with usefulness in health and cooking, it was a set of plants divided by 3 categories, tato plants (which have specific textures), plants that can smell (which have different and unique smells), palate plants (which have different and good flavors).

This was the most liked plant, it had a very different texture from the normal and a very pleasant smell, unfortunately I don't know its name. But it's amazing because I've never seen anything like this.

On the edge of this area I saw this tree, which was huge and was a fig tree from India, is huge and because of this it is considered one of the largest trees in the world. Its roots are all intertwined, and to reach these dimensions takes many years. This tree was not planted in a planned way, it is unknown how it arrived in this garden, but its presence is notorious and predominant in this unique and different landscape.

I loved this trip and there is no doubt about my return, I said that I did not have much to see, but I was very positive, I advise everyone who has the opportunity to explore this place, very good for children to learn a lot of new and interesting information, and adults to disconnect from work and have a few times of peace and quiet.
