Today I noticed that the squirrels have already completely changed their red coats to grey. I know this is not true everywhere, but it is true for squirrels in our climate zone. It's a defence mechanism. The grey is not as noticeable in the snow.

Of course, for my squirrels it doesn't matter in principle, because they live in an aviary. But they still change the colour of their coats.

Today I added more straw to their enclosures for insulation and gave them warm rags that they use for nesting.

They also had a delicious lunch waiting for them. I don't spoil them too much with store-bought treats, although they love it. But I'm not sure if it's healthy so I rarely buy it.
