Yesterday we walked the dogs in the forest again. These are probably some of the last photos of the winter landscape this year. Winter, though slowly, is receding. It's getting warmer. The snow is starting to melt, and I think with horror that soon all this will turn into a wet dirty mass. I love spring, but dirty dogs that happily run into the house and wipe themselves on the couch, make me very little happy 😂

Last time we got stuck in the snow when we got here. Then it seemed almost like an adventure, but at that moment it wasn't fun at all. So today I left our car right by the road, without risking going deeper into the forest, and then we went on foot with the dogs. They were happy for the walk. This can be seen immediately - by the way they begin to run in circles, fall into the snow, disappear between young Christmas trees and reappear as if they were playing some secret game of their own. I also needed to spend at least a little time in the silence and peace of the forest after a crazy week.

Almost nothing has changed here. The snow still lies in a thick layer on the ground and on the spruce braces. It's not as dazzlingly white as it was in January, but it's still clean and real. Brown oak leaves contrast with this white background. They are holding on to the trags, dry and stubborn, as if they don't agree that their time has already passed. Young fir trees lined up along the forest road. They look neat and almost the same, as if someone specially planted them here for this painting.

The forest is especially quiet at this time of the year. There are no insects, no birds, no usual summer rustle. Only the snow creaks underfoot and the rare sound of a lump of snow falling from a branch. Sometimes you can hear a branch breaking somewhere far away. And immediately there is a strange feeling that you are not alone here, although there is no one around.

The sky was gray and low. It didn't create a dramatic mood, but made everything around soft and calm. The colors are muted. Green seems darker, white - warmer, brown - deeper. There are no sharp contrasts, and this makes the landscape look very whole.

We were walking along the forest road, on which there were old traces of tires and new traces of our feet and paws. The dogs kept going ahead, then came back to check, and ran away again. Sometimes Umka would sit right in the middle of the road and look into the distance, as if she saw something there. Then she got up abruptly and rushed on.

I stopped a few times just to look around. At such moments, you understand especially clearly how calm it is here. No cars, no voices, no news, nothing superfluous. Only trees, snow and time, which goes by in its usual slow pace.

I took these photos almost mechanically. I just wanted to keep this state. Because everything will change very soon. The snow will disappear. Water, dirt, the first protalins will appear. Then the grass. And this winter forest will remain only in these pictures and in memory.

Today the work week has started again and I don't know if I'll be able to find time for a walk in the woods in the coming days. I'll hope so. The end of winter is the time of accumulated fatigue. I really want the sun, peace and quiet.
