I have been living in Havana, the capital of all Cubans, for ten years and I had never had the chance to enter the Hotel Nacional, one of the jewels of Cuban tourism and one of its most emblematic hotels.

I admit that I was delighted with the invitation extended to my wife and me, but, at the same time, I felt nostalgic because the invitation was extended to us by a very dear friend who was saying goodbye because she was leaving to live outside the country.

For this reason, it was a happy and nostalgic evening, but I enjoyed it because it was a unique opportunity to enjoy one of the most beautiful places in the capital.

The hotel, the entrance, the inauguration and other elements of interest

This hotel is one of the architectural jewels of our country and preserves all its splendor, despite the fact that on December 30 of this year it will be 95 years old. Cuban and American engineers were involved in its design and creation, and its construction includes neoclassical, deco art and Spanish colonial style, which is completely in tune with Cuba's cultural diversity.

In our tour we were able to see the beauty of its facilities, the spaciousness of the premises, spacious terraces overlooking the seafront and the sea, which makes it an attraction for domestic and foreign tourists.

Another interesting element of the place is that high quality materials were used in its construction, combining marble with high quality wood, giving it a touch of luxury and highlighting the natural wealth of the country.

In addition to the above, the Hotel Nacional is a symbol of Cuban tourism, is a National Monument and is part of the Universal Cultural Heritage.

Arrival at the hotel

To get to the hotel you have to pass by emblematic places of the capital's tourism such as the Capri hotel, the Club 21 restaurant bar and the Salón Rojo (Red Room).

At the entrance of the hotel Nacional you are greeted by a large number of Palma Real, Cuba's national tree that gives a unique beauty to the place.

Walk through the interior of the hotel

Several places make up this beautiful place, but, in the time I was there, I could not visit them all.

But, of all the places that caught my attention, there were two, in particular: The Churchill bar and the dining room that is preceded by the celebrity menu.

In the bar, the consumption of world-renowned drinks stands out, in addition to having a place where you can enjoy the best Havana cigars in the world.
In the celebrities' menu you will find the dish that each of the celebrities who visited the hotel consumed and that, in the photo, you will be able to appreciate. Figures such as Winston Churchill himself, Frank Sinatra, Cantinflas, John Wayne, Tarzan, José Raúl Capablanca and many more ate here.

The walk and lunch in the open air

Something that caught our attention was that, inside the hotel, specifically, in the courtyard or outdoor area, there are several gardens that adorn the place and give a relaxed atmosphere to the place, complementing the beauty of the central building.

Lunch was a delight and we loved the way it was cooked because you get to see how the food is prepared in the grilled mode. My wife was skeptical about how her hake fillet would be cooked, but when she tasted it, she was amazed. The chicken breast and pork skewer we ordered were of the same quality.

It was a wonderful day and we were impressed and motivated to return.

Por tal razón, fue una velada entre feliz y nostálgica, pero que disfruté porque era una oportunidad única de disfrutar de uno de los lugares más bellos de la capital.

El hotel, la entrada, la inauguración y otros elementos de interés

Este hotel es una de las joyas arquitectónicas de nuestro país y conserva todo su esplendor, a pesar de que el 30 de diciembre de este año cumple 95 años de fundado. En su diseño y creación se destacan ingenieros cubanos y estadounidenses y su construcción incluye estilo neoclásico, arte decó y colonial español, lo que está en completa sintonía con la diversidad cultural cubana.

En nuestro recorrido pudimos constatar la belleza de sus instalaciones, la amplitud del local, terrazas espaciosas con vistas al malecón y el mar, lo que lo convierte en un atractivo para los turistas nacionales y extranjeros.

Otro elemento interesante del lugar es que en su construcción se utilizaron materiales de alta calidad combinando mármol con madera de alta calidad, dándole un toque de lujo y resaltando la riqueza natural del país.

Llegada al hotel

Para llegar al hotel hay que pasar por lugares emblemáticos del turismo de la capital como el hotel Capri, el restaurante bar Club 21 y el Salón Rojo.

Paseo por el interior del hotel

Varios lugares conforman este bello lugar, pero, en el tiempo que estuve, no pude visitarlos todos.

En el pasillo central te recibe un grupo de trabajadores que hacen de la profesionalidad la carta de presentación y la combinación de estilos, limpieza del lugar y belleza del decorado lo hacen único e irrepetible. Suelo de losas color rojo vino, lámparas que asemejan lágrimas de luces y esperanzas, baños de una limpieza impecable, lugar para conectarse a internet, comedor, ascensores y otros lugares que, quizás, en una segunda visita, pueda tener en cuenta para otra publicación.

Pero, de todos los lugares que llamaron mi atención, estuvieron dos, en particular: El bar Churchill y el comedor que está antecedido por el menú de los famosos.

En el bar se destaca el consumo de bebidas reconocidas en el mundo entero, además, de tener un lugar en el que puedes disfrutar de los mejores habanos del mundo.

El paseo y almuerzo al aire libre

Algo que llamó nuestra atención fue que, en el interior del hotel, específicamente, en el patio o zona al aire libre, hay varios jardines que adornan el lugar y otorgan un ambiente relajado al lugar, complementando la belleza del edificio central.

El almuerzo fue una delicia y la manera de cocinarlo nos encantó porque tienes la posibilidad de ver cómo se elabora el alimento en la modalidad de asado a la parrilla. Mi esposa estaba escéptica sobre cómo quedaría cocinado su filete de merluza, pero, cuando lo probó, quedó maravillada. La misma calidad tuvo la pechuga de pollo y la brocheta de cerdo que pedimos.

Fue una jornada maravillosa y quedamos impresionados y motivados para volver.
