The hungry ghost festival

How are you? I hope you have a great day today that better than yesterday.

SHINING OBJECT ?

Today , I was accidentally see a crowd of people was walking around a huge monument like at the side of a traffic light near my home area. Due to curiosity, i park my car at that place and start to walk around .

Did you know that place was the parking area for Tiong Hua cemetery for Chinese. This is the monument like that i see from the road , it was so shiny that attract me to come and see that places.

It was actually a phoenix hand made monument . It was actually made by paper and will be burn to offer a good fortune for the spirit so they can become rich in after life .

Before they burn those monument , they sing some song to deliver those item to after life. Its not big phoenix but also include a lot of hell money , goods like bag , houses and many more that being made by paper. The head monk go around the offering and do the blessing so it ll reach the people in after life.

After they do the blessing , they monk will start burning it while the crowded still singing the same song together.

I end up spend about 1 hour to see that event even im not part of that even, but yeah it was a good lesson for me as well to know their culture.

In some places , they ll do extreme ritual than this . I hope can see that ritual and see it as my first hand experience in future.

THE HUNGRY GHOST FESTIVAL

Those ritual was part of the hungry ghost festival. When i reach home , i dig some info in internet about those festival. Those festival was start in 29 July , where the climax of those festival is at 12 August where they belive the door of hell was open .

They believe that there will many ghost from hell go around the earth that might bring bad luck that include accident , sickness and bad luck.

This is some taboo and have to be prevent during this festival .

1. Cant go out at night especially pregnant woman and kid
2. Cant swim at sea or lake
3. Do not waiting alone under tree or bus stop after sunset
4. Do not get any money from the road
5. Do not turned around if people calling you once , wait until they call you many time especially after the sunset .
6. Do not hit people on head or shoulder in this month .
7. Do not move to new home or new shop.
8. Do not married at this month.
9. Do not go for jungle tracking
10. Do not use black or blue t-shirt because they believe it was the 'Yin Colors'
