Mangrove ecosystem at KK Wetland

Welcome to Kota Kinabalu Wetland, which preserves the mangrove ecosystem in our town.

The mangrove ecosystem is not only important to prevent floods and landslides from happening, but it also gives a chance to many wild animals to live peacefully in the ecosystem. The Kota Kinabaly Wetland is considered a recreational place where people can come and learn about the natural ecosystem. They were supported by our government to come up with creative teaching ideas to convey the fact that it was important to take care of the earth, especially for the younger generation. One of their modules was to plant and grow a tree for a person.

A few weeks ago, we did a portrait photoshoot at KK Wetland. I haven't gone there for years. Im glad that the ecosystem is still as cool as before. There was about a 1-kilometer trail for people to walk around the mangrove area and enjoy the scene. For people who love taking photos of birds, this might be one of their favorite places because they can find not just birds but a lot of other wildlife if they are lucky.

This mangrove ecosystem was a blessing for everyone in my area. I hope this place will be taken care of and protected, especially from human greed that always wants to open and build a high-rise building.
