Taverham Mill, UK

I unexpectedly stumbled upon Taverham's Mill

I am currently spending some days in the UK and had a chance to visit this beautiful place. It is located just west of Norwich on the river Wensum. Although as the name suggests this has probably been a mill in the past there is only the river remaining as well as some watergates. There is a beautiful tour one can make there that is several miles long and takes the explorer through meadows, forests and wetlands. I was blessed with a sunny and warm day which made this little journey all the more delightful. What follows are some of the impressions I got from walking along this path. Enjoy!

Visitors are greeted by water when they first come here. The river Wensum has many arms and water flows in many places. There is a watergate leading into a larger pond with some beautiful willows dipping their branches into the waters.

Here you can see a wider part of the river which harbors much wildlife; dragon flies, fishes, birds... it also has some water plants which transform the water into a magical scenery.

I liked how the meadows had some pathways in them, making for a bit of an artificial look, but it was lovely.

No doubt the highlight of the tour were the cows! One actually had to venture into their space to move onwards. It was a bit of a bravery test, but they were calm and friendly:

Just look at those horns! And the long fur which I wanted to touch, but I refrained myself from doing so. But just standing in their presence emanates a feeling of reverence towards these animals. It's a great experience to get in "touch" with nature and something everyone should do regularly as we quickly forget in the cities where we actually came from.

I like this idea, and often feel it coming from a lot of animals. Cows have a certain lumbering peacefulness about them.

Gorgeous place! Your photos make it look divine.
