Open Spaces In Beautiful Nature!
Yesterday I took you on a tour through woodlands and lakes in Sweden
The third day took me to more lakes and to the top of hills on which I could see the beautiful and wild nature which spanned the wide horizon as far as the eye could see. It was truly breathtaking to experience these open spaces! But before we go there I first reached a lake with a stormy sky. I really felt like I was in the wilderness here. Walk a bit off the beaten path and you won't see another human being for several days or weeks. So it's best to stay on it, unless you really want a wild adventure!
I again reached a small house which welcomed hikers along the way. You can see the kitchen here which did not have running water of course, but was well equipped for cooking. Some of these shelters also had a but of food like pasta which one could buy. This was very useful as it is very heavy to carry all the food for about 10 days! But the cuisine is of course not too amazing; I mostly ate noodles with pesto... But one is here for nature and not for the food ;)
When I reached one of the surrounding hills I could take in all of the view. The intricate details of the landscape then revealed themselves to me. The lakes are so manifold and pristine with sparse trees covering the ground. This landscape spreads for hundreds of kilometers in all directions here so it is easy to feel small... In the distance you can see even some snow on some peaks in the middle of summer!
This is one of the many very small shelters you can find here. These are not really meant for sleeping, but mostly for a short rest. They also usually have a fireplace on which can cook some food. As my feet were tired I was happy to take a break here, before finishing the day and getting a good night sleep in one of the bigger shelters I showed you from before.
