Flying high, feeling small – no borders in the sky
When you look down from an airplane, the world looks so small. The mountains, rivers, and cities all seem tiny, like pieces on a map. From up there, you can’t see borders or fences. You don’t see countries or divisions...just one big, beautiful planet.
But down on the ground, we fight over these invisible lines we call borders. We say, “This land is mine,” or “That place belongs to us.” Countries argue, sometimes even go to war. We build walls and rules that keep people apart. We divide ourselves by race, religion, language, and land. Why do we do this?
The truth is, the Earth doesn’t belong to any one person or group. The sky above us has no borders. The air we breathe moves freely. It doesn’t stop for passport checks. We all share it...rich or poor, strong or weak.
But now, even the air is becoming something to fight over. Some countries pollute more, while others suffer. Some people get clean air, others don’t. Will we soon be arguing over which air we’re allowed to breathe too?
We forget that we all live on the same small planet. From the sky, it’s clear...we are all connected. Maybe if we saw things from above more often, we’d remember that.
And that’s why I get SO excited when I’m flying. Like really, I can’t sleep on planes...NO WAY. I’m too busy looking out of the window like a kid in a candy shop. And if I don’t get the window seat? Uh-oh. Big problem. 😅
Luckily, when I fly with my husband, he already knows: You want peace? Give me the window seat. (Or be ready to mop the floors for a week. Your choice. 😉)
But this time I flew with my girl. And she goes, “I want the window seat!”
I’m like... WHAT!? Excuse me?! 😳
So we did what all wise people do...we played Rock, Paper, Scissors. First round was for the flight there, second round for flight back.
I WON the first round! YESSSS! Window seat is mine, baby! I was so happy, already imagining the views. Then we played for the way back...
She won. 😐 Paper beat my rock. Ugh. Okay, okay... fair is fair. I’ll pretend I’m not mad. (Just a tiny bit. But I didn’t show her. 😉)
Thing is... we were flying back at night. And I NEVER flew at night before! I was like—come on! Universe! Why this time!? But whatever... let her have it. (I totally cared 😆)
She thought she’d get some sleep. LOL. Nope. Because every few minutes, I leaned over her like, “Excuse me... just checking the stars, don't mind me!” She was NOT happy. I was like...you won, now deal with it. 😜
Weather looked good. We even saw Italy from above...my heart was dancing! I was like, look at this beauty! Night flying is like MAGIC. Cities sparkle like little stars on the ground. I was in love. 😍
Then... Austria. Oh boy. RAIN. CLOUDS. DARKNESS.
And I’m like, Wait... are we really landing in THIS?!
Every other time I flew...sunshine, calm skies. But this time? Nope. The wind was like “surprise!!” and the rain was like “welcome back!” 😂
Pilot said, “We’re landing now,” and I was like...oh no no no... can we just go back to Italy? Please?
Plane started shaking, rocking from side to side. We held hands tight. I looked at people’s faces and yep—no one was exactly thrilled. 😅
But guess what? We made it. We landed. THANK YOU, Mr. Pilot, you legend! 👏👏👏
And now... I’m sharing with you some of the photos I took. Because honestly...I could stare at them for hours. 🥹
One day, I wanna see the Earth from space. Like real outer space. I probably wouldn’t wanna come back. 😅
Looking at photos is cool, but seeing it with your own eyes? That must be something else... Oh and of course...I need to add some history lesson. 😉
Before airplanes, people were already dreaming about flying like birds. 🕊️
And guess what? The first person who flew without an airplane (but still used a flying thing) was a man named Jean-François Pilâtre de Rozier. Yep, long and fancy name 😄
It happened in 1783, in France. He went up in the first hot air balloon! 🎈
It wasn’t a plane, but it was the first time a human really flew in the sky.He flew for about 25 minutes, just floating gently above the Earth. No engine, no wings...just hot air and a lot of courage! 😅
Can you imagine how it felt to look down at the world for the first time like that? Not from a mountain, but really flying! 😲
Then, years later, came the first airplane. It was made by two brothers...Orville and Wilbur Wright. They made history in 1903. Yes... over 120 years ago!
Their plane didn’t fly very far, just 12 seconds in the air, but it was the start of something huge. That short little flight changed the world. After that, people started dreaming even bigger...flying higher, farther, faster.
And now look at us! We fly across the world, take pictures from the sky, and fight over who gets the window seat 😆✈️
It all started with a few brave people and a big dream. Pretty amazing, right? 😊
So tell me—do YOU love flying?
Have you ever been on a plane?
How old were you the first time you flew?
I was 25. Going on my honeymoon. 😊
If you have any pictures, please share them in the comment section. I would love to see them! :)
I hope you like the photos! 📸💙
OEEEE love the shots you have made on there. Yup from above the world always looks super peacefull.
My mind when flying on the other hand does not at all, I hate flying and that turbulence while landing you are talking about, that would literally make my heart sink and rethink my life choices haha.
But you made it! But uhhhh flying back in the dark is not bad at all, the lights especially when ascending really bring something else and that is beautiful!
Turbulence announced the pilot half an hour before, but he didn't tell us anything about turbulence when we were landing 😂 this was just a crazy, windy landing… He could have told us it would be a bouncy landing…but he didn't. 😂 So yes, I also needed to rethink my life choices in 2 minutes 😂 I was so freaking amazed when I looked down, and I saw those lights…just woooow 😊😊
