Explore the paradise of clouds - Ta Xua, Vietnam
Hello Hivers! How was your day today? Last weekend, I had an unforgettable trip to Tà Xùa with two of my close friends. Although the weather wasn’t ideal for traveling, we still made some joyful memories in Tà Xùa. Check out my post below to see more!
Tà Xùa is a mountainous commune in Sơn La Province, Vietnam. It's famously known as one of the best places in the country to "hunt clouds" and witness a breathtaking sea of clouds. During summer, Tà Xùa often experiences sporadic heavy rain throughout the day, which actually helps create the beautiful cloud formations right after the rain.
From Hanoi, it took us about 6 hours by car to reach Tà Xùa town. The road leading up there has now been improved and is quite scenic, with winding mountain passes—cliffs on one side and rocky mountains on the other.
I stayed at Pomu Homestay, a lovely wooden house surrounded by a garden full of flowers and fruit trees like pears, plums, and peaches. In summer, the average temperature in Tà Xùa ranges from 20 to 25°C, which is pleasantly cool, especially in the evening. On our first day in Tà Xùa, we had a delicious lunch at a restaurant called Nàng Tấm. The meal featured typical Northwestern dishes such as stir-fried Mèo cabbage with mushrooms and grilled chicken. A unique local spice in Northwest Vietnam is chẩm chéo—a type of seed that, when dried, becomes aromatic and spicy.
Later, we visited a café called Hmong. The Hmong are one of Vietnam’s 54 ethnic groups, well known for their vibrant and colorful traditional clothing and intricate patterns.
Tà Xùa is also famous for its specialty Shan Tuyết tea. Unlike the more common Thái Nguyên tea, Shan Tuyết tea is difficult to grow and harvest due to its high-altitude origin. That’s why it’s more expensive, but its taste is truly exceptional.
Some beautiful destinations in Tà Xùa include vast green meadows surrounded by overlapping mountain ranges, the famous dinosaur spine ridge, and the dolphin-shaped rock cliff. This region has been blessed by Mother Nature with a pristine and majestic mountain landscape, offering a cool and healing climate—perfect for those looking to unwind from the stress of city life.
After the rain, Tà Xùa is almost guaranteed to be blanketed in clouds. That’s why many people come here to "hunt clouds" and immerse themselves in a dreamy white sea of mist. Known as the “paradise of clouds,” combined with its grand mountain views, Tà Xùa is a destination you simply cannot miss when visiting Vietnam.
Thank you for reading my post today. Have a nice Sunday ahead!
