Ahlat Coast, Lake Van

Lake Van, located in the easternmost part of Türkiye, is the country's largest lake. Because of its enormous size, the locals call it the Van Sea. The lake has many beautiful shores, one of which is Ahlat. Although the lake doesn't warm up until June due to its high altitude, people can comfortably swim in it for four months of the year. Those who can't swim can simply watch the lake and witness the birds searching for food.

Van Gölü, Türkiye'nin en doğusunda yer alan, ülkedeki en büyük göl. Devasa büyüklükte olduğu için o bölgede yaşayanlar gölü Van Denizi olarak adlandırıyor. Gölün birbirinden güzel sahili var. İşte bunlardan biri Ahlat. Yüksek rakım nedeniyle gölün ısınması haziran aylarını bulsa da 4 ay oyunca insanlar rahat bir şekilde göle girip yüzüyorlar. Yüzmek bilmeyenler gölü izlemekle, kuşların besin arayışlarına tanıklık ediyorlar.

This beautiful place where I took these photos is a state-owned establishment. It's a training hotel. The aim here is to provide internship opportunities for students attending tourism-related high schools, helping them learn the profession. Also, because the prices are quite reasonable, it's very popular with the public.

Fotoğrafları çektiğim bu güzel yer devlete ait bir işletme. Uygulama oteli. Buradaki amaç turizm ile ilgili eğitim veren liselerde okuyan öğrencilere staj imkanı sağlamak, mesleği öğrenme konusunda öğrencilere yardımcı olmak. Ayrıca işletmedeki fiyatlar oldukça uygun olduğu için halk tarafından rağbet gösteriliyor.

The photos aren't very colorful because it's cloudy and it's late afternoon. We can see the reflection of the clouds in the lake. The snow on the furthest mountains remains unchanged. The melting snow from the mountains is important in maintaining the lake's water level. During the summer months, the drought causes intense evaporation. This year's heavy rainfall hasn't significantly increased the lake level.

Hava bulutlu ve akşamüstü olduğu için fotoğraflar pek rengarenk değil. Bulutların yansımasını gölde görebiliyoruz. En uzaktaki dağlarda karlar olduğu gibi duruyor. Dağlarda eriyen kar suları göldeki su seviyesinin korunmasında önemli. Yaz aylarındaki kuraklık, buharlaşma yoğun seviyede oluyor. Bu yılki yoğun yağışlar göl seviyesini çok artırmamış.

Since it's 70 km away from where I live, I don't always have time to come here. Especially on summer evenings, after the weather cools down, it becomes a very popular spot in this region. People chat with their loved ones while watching the lake and sipping their drinks. If you ever pass through here, I highly recommend you stop by.

Yaşadığım yere 70 km mesafede olduğu için sürekli buraya gelme vaktim olmuyor. Özellikle yaz akşamları, hava iyice serinledikten sonra bu bölgede çok tercih edilen bir yere dönüşüyor. İnsanlar sevdikleri ile bir tarfatan sohbet ederken diğer taraftan gölü izliyor, içeceklerini yudumluyor. Yolunuz buradan geçerse mutlaka uğramanızı tavsiye ederim.

This is the old pier site. The pier piles are still in the lake. People still come here to take pictures. The new pier site is more modern and in a more harmonious location with the shore. I can say it's even nicer than this one.

Burası eski iskele yeri. İskele kazıkları halen gölün içinde duruyor. İnsanlar hala buraya gelip fotoğraf çekmeye devam ediyor. Yeni iskele yeri daha modern ve sahille daha uyumlu bir yerde. Buradan daha güzel diyebilirim.
