Overtime
The other day, my husband @vinciano put out a flier online to teach fashion business, a skill lacking in the Nigerian fashion industry. What he didn’t expect was over 1000 people waiting to be admitted to the WhatsApp group. You see, he makes beautiful fashion pieces and the best suits, but for a few years, he wasn’t really making profit. In fact there were months he brought absolutely nothing home, and some he made so much to cover for those months. He finally realized that the skill he needed to learn business management.
Now people see him as an expert in the industry, because they see his work and the progress he has made over the years. It will interest you to know that we met while we were apprentices in a tailor’s shop eleven years ago, although the best I can do now as far as a sewing machine is concerned is to stitch pieces together. Even though we started together, he is now very skilled and I know nothing, because I didn’t stay long enough to develop my skill.
In a world of short tik-tok videos and instant gratification, patience seems to be a lost virtue. We see or hear about a success story and we want to follow some silly “10 guidelines” and make millions overnight. Success doesn’t come by accident. What you do consistently, you master. I’m a big believer that time tells a story. If you show up at work everyday before time, you will be tagged punctual, without having to explain too much to anyone. Your proof is in your history! On the flip side, if you don’t show up every day for work, you easily get a “Lazy” or “unprofessional” tag on your name. You don’t have to say or do much. Your history of actions will tell your story.
I’m not giving advice as an expert because Lord knows I need to Focus. Who knows, we probably would have been running a fashion empire now. See how he left Hive because his business had priority over this platform. I am still trying to convince him to come back here though, but he is trying to build a portfolio on YouTube and this would be a distraction. It is important to know what you want and stay there even when distractions come.
Success isn’t achieved like a one minute popcorn in the microwave. It happens overtime and not overnight. It is earned, and that means a lot is invested to become successful.

Wow, he really does do most excellent work, I've seen some pretty good clothes, but those are beautiful! And you made two statements that the fashion business end of this business is lacking and also that patience seemed to go the way of the dodo bird hahahaha! And you are so correct, there are diligent people out there, but they are becoming a rare breed. Awesome post.
Um, you need some tags on this post, you could start with a something in clothes first, and theterminal, ladiesofhive, thealliance, some of that nature.
