Angeiras Village - drone view

Welcome back, dear friends. :)
I also hope to be back. I know I've been a little absent, but I recently became a father and now my life is a bit hectic.
Well, nothing better than talking about my roots and the depth of who I am, and nothing better than showing a little of my world.
Since I was little, I grew up among boats and fishing. My grandfather was what we call here a "sea wolf" (fearless and fearless, facing even the roughest seas).

I was always very close to my grandfather and, in turn, I ended up accompanying him during the summer holidays in his work routine at sea, grandson of a fisherman, you understand? Back then, I woke up very early, quite different from what I do now, "I like to sleep in later". At 6 am, it was time to put on my high boots that ended in a rubber suit and go to sea with my grandfather. This lasted for many years until, due to his age, he abandoned the boats and dedicated himself to recreational or sport fishing, but already on dry land. (even at that time I always accompanied him and even more frequently because my grandmother was afraid that he might fall due to his advanced age)

So, today I decided to take you on a little trip with me, and this time with aerial views. These images are from the beginning of winter. Angeiras is a small fishing village belonging to Matosinhos, about 10 km from Porto airport, more precisely to give you some spatial context, since it's something most of you know or can easily find.

The village of Angeiras is mainly made up of fishermen and also has a fish market, but most of the fish stays at the main pier, Leixões. An activity deeply rooted in each of us. The smell of the sea, the salt, and the boats lined up along the coast. That's when I decided to launch the drone to get another perspective of the environment. I walked to the arm of the sea where I sat down and quickly found the ideal spot to sit and enjoy this aerial journey with the drone.

While piloting the drone and taking some photos, I noticed the sun was setting, night was falling rapidly, and from the view of the sea, with the sunset still in the background, small but still illuminating the waves and the surrounding space, the orange and purplish tones took over the photos, giving them a cinematic aspect. After checking the results, I continued flying in a relaxed manner, at maximum speed, stopping briefly to take two or three photos and then resuming at maximum speed. Besides the initial idea, I also wanted to have fun, between low and acceptable altitudes, capturing interesting moments from an aerial photography perspective.

Angeiras is a great transit point as it is very close to the airport. It can also be a good resting point for those who want to visit Porto, as it is away from the hustle and bustle, but at the same time close, about 10 to 15 minutes by car. In the summer, it is great for sunbathing, in addition to having blue flag beaches. Many people spend their holidays in this area; it has good fish restaurants and, of course, tradition is not lacking. In addition, in the summer season we have the typical grilled sardines that all restaurants include on the menu, a very good dish for tourists and for the Portuguese themselves.

Life here is tranquil; the quality of life stems from the absence of city pressure and hustle and bustle, just sun, sand, and sea. In the summer, the region receives many tourists, with themed festivals related to fishing, and it is one of the main stopping points for pilgrims to Santiago de Compostela, making this village one of the main stops on the maritime routes to Santiago de Compostela. The sandy beaches are extensive, with few rocks and cold water, typical of northern Portugal.

Besides being a great place to live, it's a good stop for visitors, with a culture that enchants everyone, a different rhythm, and typical Portuguese flavors present on every table. Just imagine, a good beer and some lupin beans while sunbathing on the beach. It's an ideal place for children to play in the water because, even on the busiest days, the sea doesn't create much swell, due to the breakwater that extends out to sea, which makes it attractive for parents to stroll through this area and enjoy the beach.

Night fell, bringing with it illuminated streets and houses. I'm sharing these photos of the best moments; I hope you enjoyed a little tour of my village. Photos taken with a Fimi X8 2022; color adjustments and editing done with Fotor.
