In the autumn it seems like the yellow jackets are attracted to outdoor trash cans, and anything nearby those cans. As an experiment, I studied the photos, and both pictures where the bees attacked had a trash can in the background. Science!
It looks like a nice place for lunch tho, now I'm hungry.

Yep, they definitely are. But more attracted to me at at that point than sugar. They were bugging me in my screen tent a few weeks ago for the juice and coffee and now they're not around... because meat lol.
It was definitely a beautiful place to eat :)
