An early morning car trip

First things first, this is my first post to the Weekend Experiences community, so I would like to say hello to all members of this community and Hive.

I am going to talk about my experience of having an early morning trip by car yesterday, that is on Sunday, 7th of September 2025.

It’s been some time since I last woke up at 5:30 in the morning, let alone on a Sunday.

I woke up that early, because I had to travel about 100 kilometers, roughly 60 miles, to another city, in order to take up some training.

They did it on Sunday to make it difficult for us trainees to come up with an excuse not to attend it.

Anyway, when I hit the road with the car in the morning, I thought it would be dead outside.

To my surprise, I noticed there were people having a coffee at a small cafe.

Who knows, they could either coming back or going to work, or just ending a (very) late night out.

At first, it was still dark, so I had my car’s lights on for a quite big part of the journey.

As the day started dawning, I had to slow the car down and drive with caution, because I got unexpectedly caught in the middle of fog.

Fog on the road in this area is a common phenomenon during January and February, but not in early September.

“Thank God I gave myself plenty of time to get there”, I thought.

You never know what you can encounter during a fairly long trip like this, so you should always account for unexpected delays, etc.

This is a shot I took of fog rising from a field by the road.

Driving my Citroen C3 cautiously and patiently, and with the fog lights on most of the time, I finally managed to leave the fog behind me.

It filled me with hope, and I knew that it wouldn’t be long before I got to my final destination.
