The autumn holiday experience/ Das Herbsturlaubserlebnis

Hello, fellow globetrotters! Today, I would like to tell you about my holiday trip to Turkey in October – and everything we got to experience there. It was my very first visit to Turkey, and I was surprised: a balmy 30 degrees – in the middle of autumn, when it's already quite rough and chilly in Germany. 😪

The plan was to have a relaxing holiday, far away from the holiday hustle and bustle. And yes, flying outside the holiday season was not only quieter, but also significantly cheaper. The Royal Holiday Palace in Lara was recommended to us – and what can I say? As soon as we arrived, I could feel it: it's still really warm here! We set off from Germany wearing autumn clothes, but it was much too hot for them when we arrived.

The hotel? A veritable palace – just as the name promises! Playful architecture, warm colours, an elegant atmosphere. And the staff? Warm, attentive, caring – everything was spick and span every day.

The days were filled with sunshine, good food and fresh sea air. The buffet? A dream! Oriental spices, fresh fruit, sweet treats – my taste buds were dancing. And the evenings? Magical. Whether watching the sunset on the beach or enjoying tea on the terrace, I soaked up every moment like a sponge.
The hotel offers five à la carte restaurants with culinary diversity:
• 🍝 Italian cuisine
• 🌮 Mexican specialities
• 🐟 Seafood
• 🍖 Grilled dishes
• 🍜 Far Eastern cuisine
There is also a large main restaurant with international buffets and themed evenings, as well as several bars and snack areas – especially by the pool and on the beach.

Since we often stayed up late and liked to sleep in, the late riser breakfast was very convenient for us. There was super-fresh fruit by the pool – I was particularly fond of the pears. Not a day went by without me snacking on them.
Of course, the holiday wasn't just about food – even though the selection was truly overwhelming. The hotel complex has a small amusement park with a Ferris wheel, bumper cars and water slides that lead directly into the huge pool.

The hotel entertainers were full of energy and happily persuaded me to take part in various programmes. Whether it was belly dancing or water aerobics, I had a lot of fun, and other guests were happy to join in.

My personal highlight? Jet skiing! Racing across the sea at full throttle and ending up looking like a ‘salted fish’ – simply incredible! The water splashed up and hit me in the back. We rode along the beach for an hour. My waterproof camera, which I had bought for a bargain price of 30 euros, proved to be very useful. Small, handy and hardly noticeable when swimming – perfect for underwater photos!

The evening shows and the varied programme were also an experience. There was dancing, laughter and amazement – and we got to know lots of other people who were also enthusiastic about the stage programme.
From time to time, we left the complex, fed stray animals and explored other hotel complexes. The district was also worth a visit – ideal for picking up a few bargains. It was easy to strike up conversations and haggle for all kinds of souvenirs for friends and family.

Overall, I realised that although all-inclusive hotels are convenient, I prefer holiday apartments where you can go out, experience the culture, visit local shops and sample the local cuisine. This allows you to interact more with the country and its people. However, if you just want to relax and unwind without having to worry about anything, all-inclusive is the best option. I'm more the spontaneous, self-catering type – just go there, ask around, be there! Just like we did in many other countries. But those were places you could drive to. Nevertheless, it was all worth experiencing and the moments will stay with me forever.

If I had to describe ‘One Thousand and One Nights’, it would probably be as magnificent as the Holiday Palace: ornate columns, lots of crystal, vibrant images and warmth. Add to that a huge pool that spans the entire hotel complex and can be crossed via bridges. A beach as far as the eye can see and the sound of the sea to calm the mind.

Hallo, liebe Weltenbummler! Heute möchte ich euch von meiner Urlaubsreise in die Türkei im Oktober erzählen – und von all den Erlebnissen, die wir dort hatten. Es war mein erster Besuch in der Türkei, und ich war überrascht: milde 30 Grad – mitten im Herbst, wenn es in Deutschland schon ziemlich rau und kühl ist.

Geplant war ein entspannter Urlaub, fernab vom Ferienrummel. Und ja, außerhalb der Ferienzeit zu fliegen, war nicht nur ruhiger, sondern auch deutlich günstiger. Uns wurde das Royal Holiday Palace in Lara empfohlen – und was soll ich sagen? Schon beim Ankommen spürte ich: Hier ist es noch richtig warm! In Deutschland sind wir in Herbstkleidung gestartet, doch bei der Ankunft war es dafür viel zu heiß.

Das Hotel? Ein wahrer Palast – ganz wie der Name verspricht! Verspielte Architektur, warme Farben, eine elegante Atmosphäre. Und das Personal? Herzlich, aufmerksam, liebevoll – jeden Tag war alles pikobello.
Die Tage waren gefüllt mit Sonne, gutem Essen und frischer Meeresluft. Das Buffet? Ein Traum! Orientalische Gewürze, frisches Obst, süße Leckereien – mein Gaumen hat getanzt. Und die Abende? Magisch. Ob beim Sonnenuntergang am Strand oder bei einem Tee auf der Terrasse – ich habe jeden Moment aufgesogen wie ein Schwamm.
Das Hotel bietet fünf À-la-carte-Restaurants mit kulinarischer Vielfalt:

• 🍖 Grillgerichte
• 🍜 Fernöstliche Küche
Zusätzlich gibt es ein großes Hauptrestaurant mit internationalen Buffets und Themenabenden sowie mehrere Bars und Snackbereiche – besonders am Pool und am Strand.

Da wir oft lange wach waren und gerne ausschliefen, kam uns das Langschläfer-Frühstück sehr gelegen. Am Pool gab es superfrische Früchte – besonders die Birnen hatten es mir angetan. Kein Tag verging, ohne dass ich davon genascht habe.

Natürlich bestand der Urlaub nicht nur aus Essen – auch wenn das Angebot wirklich überwältigend war. Die Hotelanlage beherbergt einen kleinen Freizeitpark mit Riesenrad, Autoscooter und Wasserrutschen, die direkt in den riesigen Pool führen.

Die Hotelanimateure waren voller Energie und überredeten mich mit Freude, an verschiedenen Programmen teilzunehmen. Ob Bauchtanz oder Wassergymnastik – ich hatte richtig Spaß, und andere Gäste machten gerne mit.

Mein persönliches Highlight? Jetski fahren! Mit Vollspeed übers Meer zu rauschen und am Ende wie ein „gesalzener Fisch“ auszusehen – einfach der Hammer! Das Wasser spritzte hoch und klatschte mir gegen den Rücken. Eine Stunde lang cruisten wir entlang der Strandabschnitte. Meine günstig erworbene Wasserkamera für 30 Euro kam dabei voll zum Einsatz. Klein, handlich und beim Schwimmen kaum spürbar – perfekt für Unterwasserfotos!

Die abendlichen Shows und das vielseitige Programm waren ebenfalls ein Erlebnis. Es wurde getanzt, gelacht und gestaunt – und man lernte viele andere Menschen kennen, die sich ebenfalls für das Bühnenprogramm begeisterten.
Ab und zu verließen wir die Anlage, fütterten Straßentiere und erkundeten andere Hotelkomplexe. Auch der Stadtbezirk war einen Besuch wert – ideal, um ein paar Schnäppchen zu ergattern. Man kam schnell ins Gespräch und feilschte um allerlei Mitbringsel für Freunde und Familie.

Im Großen und Ganzen wurde mir bewusst: All-Inclusive-Hotels sind zwar bequem, aber ich bevorzuge Ferienwohnungen, bei denen man rausgeht, die Kultur erlebt, lokale Läden besucht und sich durch die heimische Küche probiert. So hat man mehr Interaktion mit dem Land und den Menschen. Wer sich jedoch einfach mal um nichts kümmern und die Seele baumeln lassen möchte, ist mit All-Inclusive bestens bedient.
Ich bin eher der Typ für Spontanität und Selbstverpflegung – einfach hinfahren, nachfragen, da sein! So wie wir es in vielen anderen Ländern gemacht haben. Die man aber mit dem Auto anfahren konnte.

Wenn ich „Tausendundeine Nacht“ beschreiben müsste, wäre es wohl so prachtvoll wie im Holiday Palace: schmucke Säulen, viel Kristall, schwungvolle Bilder und Wärme. Dazu ein riesiger Pool, der die gesamte Hotelanlage umspannt und über Brücken überquert werden kann. Ein Strand, soweit das Auge reicht, und Meeresrauschen zur Besinnung.
