Wednesday Walk - Ancona Streetviews
Having finally received my residence permit (valid for 5 years) I now need to complete the next bureaucratic step. Registering my residency in Ancona, a really weird concept for us Africans!!
So an appointment was made for today and off we went to tackle bureaucracy once again.... in a language we do not speak. As is our wont.... we declined the commute option and decided to walk the few kilometers to town but taking roads less travelled.
To my mind this is such a cool picture .... the day was gloomy and very cold... and I have not altered the color at all in this picture. I seem very partial to lines and textures in photographs... my good lady thinking this is 'nothing special' ... thoughts down below please. I will not be offended if you agree with my gal.
There is so much going on on the facade of this building I wish I had my camera with me to focus in on detail
nonetheless, I did what I could with my trusty cellphone.
There are gargoyles and angels and mermaids and and and.... a veritable theme park.
Walking home my cellphone rang.... on my Italian number. The ONLY person who calls me on that number was striding alongside me. Puzzled I answered with an authorative 'pronto!!' as I have heard others do.
My ear was subjected to an extremely fast, loud stream of Italian sentences of which all I could make out was ...pasaporte. When the tirade finally came to an end I said with enthusiasm 'Capito, grazie' which seemed to encourage another stream of incomprehensible words. Again I replied 'capito' (Understand)
I did not understand... but trying to seek clarification from someone who does not speak english... whilst I speak no Italian was not going to serve either of us any good.
My plan was just to make another appointment and go back and find out what was missing. Simple
As it turns out that will not be necessary as I was sent a message advising that a copy of my entry visa as displayed in my passport was required. Done and dusted.
Thank you for stopping by. Stay safe, stay free and love the one you with.
Buildings and architecture in Italy is stunning, you have my vote when wishing you had your camera with you..., wife would not have been happy !LOLZ
These foreign to us languages do get us down, no use feigning ignorance once you arrive you need a couple of words to get by on.
Good luck in your new country, out of Africa!

I love all the details of the architecture you shared on this walk
As for the first photo I agree with you I love it the framing with the arch and the paved street leading us into the photo
Thanks for joining the Wednesday, its always fun for me to visit the walks from all around the world, getting a feel for communities where people live and what they see on their daily walks
Beautiful, old architecture. The b&w at the end was a great conclusion.
Saying I understand in Japan has gotten me into trouble too many times. Enjoy your time in Italy!
thank you and thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment. Much appreciated
Having commuted to work on foot before I would class a walk as a commute but what do I know :)
Sounds like you need to hit Duolingo harder XD and maybe don't say you understand if you don't understand, that seems like a recipe for disaster XP
The first picture is pretty cool. There's a bisecting line and then freaking line line line line line everywhere and it's all inside an arch. It also looks very claustrophobic and I simultaneously want to go and see what's down there and run screaming (confronted by something like that I would do both, first skip through it to see what's there and run screaming out the other side).
Wow that red building did have a bit going on didn't it O_O
Yay for all the beaurocratic stuff working out XD
yay for stopping by and reading my post .... as always {smile} ... i read your post about notebooks and project and home schooling ... did not have anything constructive, witty or intelligent to respond. That said, you have it on good authority that I am taking care of my health to ensure I am going to enjoy your fantastic finished project {grin} .... you only have another 20 years or so... quim sabe' ?
If it's any consolation I rarely have anything constructive, witty or intelligent to respond 😆
And it's been worse at the moment, I've been blind upvoting as I was back at work this week and it's a lot of new responsibilities so a lot of time taken trying to get used to things 😵 (and lesson plan aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh)
You should be taking care of your health anyway 😜 but hopefully it won’t be another 20 years before I’m at least done with this one (there’s a lot more 💀)
