travel - napoli ... naples and some music

long time no write... but my good lady and i have travelled italy from east coast to the southern tip to west coast and back home over the past two weeks.

as modest as our apartment is i am happy to be home to get some rest.

madonna - holiday

napoli historic city center....with open minds and comfy shoes,my wife and i spent a rather busy day (26 386 steps registered on my watch....embracing this crazy city. my take on napolitans .....1- crazy dedication to maradonna (even more so than madonna) 2- honour and love for their religion with shrines to saints on literally every street corner, all with fresh flowers , candles etc.
3- food....oh my word they make the best margharita pizza in the world , truely another level. The base the tomato the cheese and basil ....drool man drool

4- sfogliatella, a crispy flaky pastry shaped like a clam with a filling of choices....it makes phyllo pastry feel heavy.
5 - baba rum, a mushroom shaped sponge cake soaked in sticky citrus rum syrup and topped with fresh cream and fruit...or eat it plain.....flipping awesome.
6- galleria umberto , an impressive building with glass roof built in 1887 and now an unesco building used for fancy fashion houses to display their clothing....some so bizarre it looked like it came from the rubbish bin with a fancy tag ....
tomorrow I'll get more into the historic sites .....

we visited an awesome town named lecce (pronounced let-che) , as well as poggiardo, castro, otranto and st something or other .... keep an eye out for those ... and of course pompei...

thanks for stopping by and stay safe, stay free and love the one you with.

Squeezed a lot into the two weeks? Must have been pretty intense if you need a holiday to recover from the holiday XD

Altho we did 'holiday' things... we are actually checking out the various areas of italy to decide on where we wish to put down routes. the south of italy is beautiful, but a bit tattier and the people are arrogant and proud. napoli and the surrounding area is also beautiful but busy and dirty... rome we love but unless crypto rebounds rather quickly the costs there make that a short holiday destination only. In two weeks time we will head up to the north again and check out bergamo and piedmonte provinces... generally the north is the most expensive areas.

Sounds like stereotypical north/south divisions to me XD

in all countries, in all cities... you are correct... but this is deeper and rooted in long history. even the dialects are so different that things we have learnt for basic requests / orders etc. get blank stares.
