When You Love What You Do, Is It Really Work?
This is the question I ask people when they talk about retirement. To me retirement means death. I feel like I am always going to want to create and produce things.
Many people think that they have to wait till a certain age, or until they have a certain amount of money before they can do the things they really want. I say find a way to make a living doing what you love!
I mean how can you complain with working by the beach? It’s another beautiful day, 70 degrees, and the sun is shining!
I have my van life stand up desk going on, which is where I open the doors and use my bucket as a desk, lol. But hey, if it work, it works!
Ole Chip gets to basically take over the couch and be lazy all day while Daddy earns the bacon, lol.
The view outside the front of the van isn’t too shabby I’ll say! Goes right along with the hood graphics, just gotta treat everyday as an adventure!
The term, you only live once, is wrong! You only die once, so live everyday like it’s your last!

I am absolutely with you, and i even do believe that work only will be 'real good' if you love what you do (love also means that there are struggles some times ;). I guess the rest is about what you 'think' you need for living. Happiness is for sure nothing that can be bought, and should not be postponed to a certain date (like retirement). Indeed, having nothing left to do (i can't even imagine this state) must be equal to a death sentence. A good quote i heard is: May your all your wishes come true but one, so you always have something to strive for :)
I’m glad there are some people in this world who think like me. Why wait till you retire. Do stuff now. Some years ago I dodged death when my kidneys failed and underwent transplantation and thanks to my Dad my live donor, given a second life in a sense. So retirement plans etc are all a load of crap to me. Live every day.
Oh I love your writing! And you look very happy! You know what? I’m 33 years old and I quit my job, and I am looking for what I love to make of that my way of living. Sometimes it’s scary, but I agree with you, you die once and you are alive right now, so… why should I choose to spend my life by doing something that doesn’t make me happy?
These last days I’ve been feeling very happy, and I realized that it’s because my salary is exactly that: my happiness.

Really glad you enjoyed it! I left an 8 year career at Apple a couple of years ago to pursue my passions here on the blockchain. It is EXTREMELY scary, lol. Especially since I still have kids that depend on my income, lol. So it's been a hustle, and still it, everyday. But it is SO worth it when I will be able to get to go to ALL of my youngest's senior year stuff. I missed most of my son's stuff because I had to work all the time.
I am not rich my any means either, on the scale of 'monetary wealth' but my time is worth more to me than any other asset. So I happily trade money for my time. It's all in how you want to live. For myself, I am a minimalist, so that makes things easy, lol.

I agree, and I’m also beginning a life as a minimalist, although I enjoy some unnecessary stuff as well yet, lol. But I spent the last year traveling as a volunteer in Europe and Israel, and I realized how important life is, beyond the material things that you could have. So I’m very happy for being brave and quit that job.
I believe you are very brave as well, even more with a family. But your love for what you do, will make everything possible in your life! So congratulations, and cheers for living the life that you choose and love!
