The Dude's Rose Directory - Brown Velvet
Hello everyone, this is the first variation of rose that is going to my rose directory. First off, I love nature, and in Eugene, Or, there is a spectacular park called Owen Rose Garden. This place has so many different variations of roses in their own sections, so in my effort to as much worldly knowledge as possible, and practicing my iphone photography skills, I am starting this rose directory. Gives me a reason to get out to the park once a week! I am getting to this what seems late in the season, so this may be a project that continues over some time.
This project will feature one flower a day, Monday-Friday, until the end of the blooming season, or until I run out of roses, lol. I think it is a fun little nature photography project. Hopefully my skills will get better as I go along! That and to let people remember there is still a ton of beauty in the world. You just have to get screens sometime to find it!
Let's take a look at today's rose variety, the Brown Velvet Rose
Brown Velvet Rose
Class: Floribunda
This type of rose has an orangish tint to allot of the flowers, although some have a more pinkish hue to them. This strain is known more for the orangish tint which when combined with the natural red, makes the brownish tones. Some also had a deep brownish tint to the stems and leaves, but most have a dark green color. It is really a beautiful color, especially in the morning sunlight!
According to Rose.it, they can grow to a height of 90cm (about 35.4 inches) and spread up to 60cm (23.6 inches). The smell even had a thick, velvety kind of smell to it, almost like a floral chocolate. According to sources, this species is particularly resistant to diseases. So if you are new to growing roses, this may be a good variety for your garden!
